60th Annual Emmy Nominations

July 17, 2008 by Ingrid Diaz

Chandra_wilson_sandra_oh_01_spWell, last week I posted some information about the finalists in the Emmy nominations list, as well as leaked information from the judges tables to give us a better idea who might and might not make the finals. Today the nominations are in, and we’re in for a couple of surprises.

Greys Anatomy did not make the nominees list for Outstanding Drama Series. I mentioned in my post that it sounded like it would be an either or situation for Lost and Grey’s Anatomy and it looks like Lost won after all. While I mentioned that both Dexter and Friday Night Lights wouldn’t be there, Dexter did make the final cut after all.

Grey’s Anatomy Scoop: No Pregnancy for Callie?

July 9, 2008 by Ingrid Diaz

Sara_ramirez_10_spA glance at Michael Ausiello’s new Ask Ausiello column over at Entertainment Weekly didn’t reveal much we didn’t already know. Rose is definitely back for season five, and “stirring up trouble” for Meredith and Derek. Katherine Heigl is definitely back as well. He did reveal that according to Shonda Rhimes the “major kiss” from the season finale was not MerDer but rather Alex and Izzie.

However, Ausiello did relate a very interesting tidbit regarding the rumor that Callie might be the one pregnant in season five: “a reliable Grey’s insider insists ‘it’s not true.’” Now, whether that means that the entire rumor about a pregnancy in season five is bogus, or that it’s simply not going to be Callie, it’s not quite clear. And of course, there’s always the question of whether the denial is true at all.

Some Grey’s Anatomy Questions Answered

June 20, 2008 by Ingrid Diaz

Ellen_pompeo_01_ncTV Guide’s Michael Ausiello answered a couple of – relatively minor, but still relevant – questions regarding Grey’s Anatomy in his last installment of Ask Ausiello.

When asked what the “major” kiss from the season finale was supposed to be, Ausiello responded that it was most likely the big MerDer smooch at the end. Though as most of us concluded: that was hardly unexpected. I love MerDer as much as the next person, but it was all a little disappointing after all of the kissing hype.

Ausiello was also asked about the number of episodes Grey’s Anatomy would tally up next season. According to his sources the total will be around 24 episodes for season five. The person that asked the question said there was a Patrick Dempsey interview in which he said there would be 30–34 episodes. Has anyone seen that interview? Send it my way if you do. I’ve not come across it yet. Regardless, I doubt very much it will be anything in the 30s range, as nice as that would be. Ausiello’s 24 sounds far more likely.

Shonda Rhimes Pitches Grey’s Anatomy Season Five Ending to Writers

June 4, 2008 by Ingrid Diaz

Shonda_rhimes_01_ncShonda Rhimes has updated the Grey Matter blog with the second part of her “The End of the Beginning” post. In this post she tells us Grey’s Anatomy fans that she’s pitched the season five ending to her writers and she assures us she’s not teasing us at all by saying that season five will be “the most exciting, fly by the seat of your pants/skirts, ‘Oh My God Did That Just Happen???!’ Season of Grey’s Anatomy EVER.” Nope, not teasing at all!

Shonda does sound rather excited about season five which is good news for us fans. Her excitement is sure to rub off on us. As if we weren’t already excited/impatient enough!

Alas, we’re still a long way off from season five, and further still from the ending to season five, so Shonda brings us back to the present with her exploration of the season four finale.

In this post she covers Ava/Rebecca, Alex, Izzie; she covers Bailey; she covers Cristina; and she covers Lexie/George. She leaves us with sound advice: “Have a great summer and do lots of kissing.”

So anyone want to take a guess as to what the ending of season five might entail? A happy wedding for a change? Maybe?

Grey’s Anatomy Discussion: 4.16/4.17 “Freedom”

May 22, 2008 by Ingrid Diaz

Major_kiss_pollWell, the day is upon us. The two-hour season finale of Grey’s Anatomy is only a few hours away. Are you excited? Are you bouncing from anticipation? I know I am!

I’m opening up a discussion thread so we can funnel all of our excitement about tonight’s episode into an easy to find place.

Last week I polled the Grey’s Anatomy News community to see who you thought the lucky couple would be partaking in the “major” and “unexpected” kiss we’ve been promised. Despite the comments stating that no way would it be Meredith and Derek it does seem like a vast majority of you do think MerDer will be it. Now, no doubt they’ll be locking lips in tonight’s episode, but are they really the major and unexpected kiss? Guess we’ll find out!

I’ll be posting a recap of the episode this weekend, so for those of you with no access to the episode check back here for the play-by-play. But of course do pass by after the episode to discuss the events of the finale; the good, the bad, the shocking … or perhaps the disappointing.

Further discussions that might interest you:
