Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice Crossover Keeping the Ratings Healthy
February 16, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
Whether they thought it was awesome or disappointing, it seems people still tuned in to watch the big Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice crossover extravaganza last Thursday.
According to the ratings, our show managed to narrow the ratings gap against its biggest competitor, CSI. Grey’s scored 15.1 million viewers to CSI’s 17.8. And Private Practice hit an all time high among 18-49 -year olds with 14.2 million viewers.
Not bad.
It would seem all the hype and publicity paid off for ABC. Let’s see how many people return for the next part of the crossover.

Grey’s Anatomy Ratings On the Rise
January 30, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

Say what you will about the Denny/Izzie storyline, Grey’s is not suffering in the ratings because of it. And that’s a very good thing! The show saw its highest season average last Thursday with 14.3 million viewers. According to reports, the show was number one among adults 18-49.
Private Practice is enjoying the benefits of its new time slot (after Grey’s). The show saw its highest ratings of the season: 9.6 million.
It’s really nice to hear good news about both shows. Let’s hope the viewers keep on tuning in. I’m sure the big crossover event won’t hurt.

Latest Grey’s Anatomy Ratings
May 10, 2008 by Ingrid Diaz
The ratings are in and it looks like Grey’s Anatomy helped ABC win in the ratings this past week, at least in terms of key demographic. According to Reuters, 15.6 million viewers tuned into watch the medical drama, 8 million tuned in to watch Ugly Betty and 11.3 million tuned in for Lost.
CBS came second to ABC in key demographic, but it did attract more viewers. Survivor had 12.7 million, CSI had 17.8 million, and Without a Trace pulled in 14.6 million.
NBC came in third, and FOX and the CW did their best to hang in there.
Ratings, overall, are still on the low side compared to the pre-strike days, so it looks like television as a whole is going to be suffering from the effect of the strike for a while to come.

Post-Super Bowl Ratings
February 6, 2007 by Ingrid Diaz
CBS tried to follow in ABC’s footsteps with ‘Criminal Minds’, putting it after the SuperBowl to attract more viewers. Certainly, it did that, though it didn’t come anywhere near last year’s Grey’s Anatomy ratings.
The Chicago Tribune has put up a list of post-Super Bowl shows and their ratings. Grey’s Anatomy is up t here. Coming in third after Friends and Survivor.
- 1996, “Friends,” 53 million, NBC
- 1997 “The X-Files,” 29 million, Fox
- 1998, “3rd Rock From the Sun,” 33.6 million, NBC
- 1999, “Family Guy,” 22 million, Fox
- 2000, “The Practice,” 24 million, ABC
- 2001, “Survivor: The Australian Outback,” 45.4 million, CBS
- 2002, “Malcolm in the Middle,” 21 million, Fox
- 2003, “Alias,” 17.4 million, ABC
- 2004, “Survivor: All Stars,” 36 million, CBS
- 2005, “The Simpsons,” 23 million/“American Dad,” 15.2 million, Fox
- 2006, “Grey’s Anatomy,” 38 million, ABC
- 2007, “Criminal Minds,” 26.2 million, CBS
Think Criminal Minds will become the next TV hit? I’ve not seen the show so I don’t know if it’s any good.
Grey’s Anatomy Back to Most Watch TV Program
December 7, 2006 by Ingrid Diaz
Last week was a great week for Grey’s Anatomy and its ratings. After falling to number three, it climbed back up to the number one spot. Okay, so … Desperate Housewives was in reruns, but I’m sure we would’ve won anyway.
The show came in at number one with 24.01 million viewers. Wow. That’s not too shabby.
CBS, Grey’s Anatomy, and Sweeps
December 1, 2006 by Ingrid Diaz
Sweeps results are in and it looks like everyone won in their own way.
For ABC, the sweeps marked the first time in seven years it captured the coveted demographic during the November ratings period, which will help determine TV advertising rates in medium and small markets.
But CBS also claimed victory: its sixth consecutive for total viewers during November sweeps. The network could thank “CSI,” which stood as the month’s top scripted series with an average of 22.19 million viewers, just nipping “Desperate Housewives” at 22.18 million and “Grey’s Anatomy” at 21.29 million. However, CBS had a 3.8 rating in the 18-to-49 demographic, which meant from its view a disappointing tie with NBC.
Still hanging on to the #3 spot, though we’re not behind by much.

Grey’s Anatomy, Back to No. 1
October 9, 2006 by Ingrid Diaz
So, the week before last, we lost to CSI (but we still came in second, cause GA rocks). Last week, however, people remembered that Grey’s Anatomy owns all, and chose wisely.
We beat CSI once again.
And they said it couldn’t be done! Muahahaha…
No competitive streak in me whatsoever, no…
