TV Guide on Grey’s Anatomy Season Finale

April 27, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

This season’s Grey’s Anatomy finale is gearing up to be really freakin’ awesome. We’ve got two hours of non-stop medical drama, complete with two potential main character deaths, and it’s all coming up on May 14!

TV Guide launched its season finale guide, and while there’s not much to be said in the way of spoilers, there’s this intriguing tidbit: Series creator Shonda Rhimes reportedly told her cast that “life-changing things” are in store for every major Seattle Gracer.

Shannon Lucio to Replace Kaley Cuoco

April 23, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

SGG-060147According to an EW exclusive, it seems that the “publicity conflict” blamed for Kaley Cuoco pulling out of her scheduled Grey’s appearance is actually not a publicity conflict after all.

Instead, CBS is being blamed. The network apparently pulled the plug on the entire operation because (according to an insider): “They didn’t want one of their biggest stars appearing on one of ABC’s biggest shows. It’s that simple.”

CBS fail.

Cuoco’s replacement is now said to be Shannon Lucio, whom you might remember from The O.C. as Caleb’s illegitimate daughter.

The question still remains what the role is. An Izzie relative might still be a possibility. Even with the recasting it doesn’t sound particularly farfetched.

What do you think?

Kaley Cuoco Pulls Out of Grey’s Anatomy

April 23, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

Due to a publicity-related commitment on the part of Kaley Cuoco, the Big Bang Theory actress will no longer be appearing in the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy. As I’d mentioned previously, Grey’s had come a-knockin’ on Cuoco’s door and she’d answered with an enthusiastic yes. Despite the mystery surrounding her character, everything seemed set for her arrival on the set this week.

Alas, a spokesperson for Cuoco has released the following statement: “Due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts on behalf of The Big Bang Theory, Kaley Cuoco regrettably will be unable to guest star on the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy. Kaley is a big fan of Grey’s Anatomy and hopes to work with them in the future.”

A rep then e-mailed EW to clarify that the conflict was publicity-related rather than production-related.

I’m really disappointed by this news, as I was really excited about Cuoco appearing in Grey’s. Maybe next season?

UPDATE: The publicity conflict now blamed on CBS. Kaley Cuoco’s replacement announced.

Ausiello Talks Grey’s Anatomy on CNN

April 21, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

Last night Michael Ausiello talked to CNN about Grey’s Anatomy. One of the main topics was Ellen Pompeo’s pregnancy and how the show will deal with what will likely be a 3 month maternity leave.

Another topic is Kaley Cuoco and how she doesn’t know what her character is going to be, though speculation seems to buzz around a potential relative of Izzie’s.

Watch the video and then drop your thoughts in the comments!

What do you think Grey’s is going to do without Ellen Pompeo for what might be an extended period of time?

Grey’s Anatomy Guest Star News: Kaley Cuoco

April 17, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

sipaphotostwo342906-NV-44TH-COUNTRYThe Grey’s Anatomy season finale is promising to be … wait for it … legendary! And as far as I’m concerned it just got even more awesome-sounding. The hilarious Kaley Cuoco from The Big Bang Theory (one of my favorite shows) is checking into Seattle Grace during the two-hour May 14 (season finale) episode!

The actress confirmed to EW that Grey’s knocked on her door. No audition necessary. But what is she going to be doing? Is there a clue? A hint? Some little spoiler to cling to?

Alas, no.

“It is a big ol’ secret. I have no clue what I am doing. I swear on my life that I have no idea what I am playing because it is the finale and they are keeping it under wraps until the last possible moment.”

Her guess is that she’s going to be a patient, but that’s just her personal guess.

I don’t really care what she’s doing, actually. I’m just excited that she’ll be on it. If you’re not watching TBBT, you should be. And How I Met Your Mother. Oh and Chuck. But I digress…

Any theories as to what her character might be?

Liza Weil, Debra Mooney to Guest Star on Grey’s Anatomy

April 8, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

zumawirewestphotos005815-20060918-mkhDo you ever get the feeling that Shonda Rhimes really misses Gilmore Girls? Grey’s Anatomy recently featured Emily Kuroda in the March 19 episode and now we learn that another Gilmore Girls alumn is checking into Seattle Grace: Liza Weil. Here’s a refresher for those who’ve forgotten: Liza Weil played Paris, Rory’s enemy turned frenemy turned self-proclaimed best friend. She was brilliant and hilarious and hands down one of my favorite characters on the show.

And if you’re not a Gilmore Girls fan and even if you are, there’s another fan favorite from Everwood scrubbing in: Debra Mooney.

So here’s the lowdown: Weil will be playing a cancer patient that crosses paths with Izzie, and Mooney has been cast in the very intriguing role of Owen’s mom. Wonder if she and Cristina will get along?

Grey’s Anatomy Casting News: Sharon Lawrence to Play Izzie’s Mom

March 17, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

admphotos381299-Sharon-LawrenceThe other day I wrote: “It’s very likely that we’re going to get to meet Izzie’s mom in the second-to-last episode of the season. The show is currently casting for a “‘heartwarming’ trailer-trash woman in her mid-to-late 40s” and they only want stars for the role. There’s no confirmation that this woman will be Izzie’s mom, but it seems very likely given the information available.”

Well, the rumors have turned into an official confirmation: Sharon Lawrence (NYPD Blue, Priviledged) has been cast in the role of Izzie’s mom.

Lawrence’s character will appear at the end of April, as part of the ongoing storyline about Izzie’s illness. However, according to TV Guide, it seems that Izzie will be less than thrilled at seeing her mom.

Should be really interesting to learn more about Izzie through her interactions with her mom.

Grey’s Anatomy Casting News: Emily Kuroda Guest Stars

March 9, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

Emily Kuroda will be guest starring in an upcoming episode of Grey’s Anatomy. Gilmore Girls fans will recognize her as Mrs. Kim (Lane’s mom). How much did I love Mrs. Kim? A lot. I loved her a lot. I wouldn’t have wanted to have her as my mom, but she was hilarious and wonderful, so I’m really excited about her role on Grey’s.

Just what is her role on Grey’s? I’m not sure yet, but I do know that she’ll be appearing in the March 19 episode. Otherwise known as 5.18 “Stand By Me.” We also know that she’ll be playing a patient.

In the meantime, here’s a refresher on Mrs. Kim’s awesomeness. Just to tide you over.

Joshua Jackson Discusses Grey’s

February 18, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

krtphotoslive342333-ENTER-TV-FRINGE

As some of you may or may not remember, Joshua Jackson (Fringe) was supposed to slip on some scrubs and join the Seattle Grace team a while back. And then … well, it didn’t happen.

Blast Magazine caught up with the actor at New York’s ComicCon and asked him a bit about what happened with Grey’s.

What did happen?

Turns out: the writer’s strike happened. The actor said that the day they were supposed to start filming was the day the writer’s strike began. And well, the whole thing fell through after that. Jackson moved on to Fringe and Kevin McKidd rolled on over to Grey’s and took his place.

Jackson did say he regretted the fact that he didn’t get to work alongside Sandra Oh.

Are you guys disappointed that things didn’t work out with Joshua Jackson at Grey’s or are you content with how things panned out?
