Patrick Dempsey spent fourth of July in Daytona Beach, Florida, participating in the Brumos Porsche 250 Race. The race took place at the Daytona International Speedway, and the Grey’s actor was spotted by cameras signing autographs before the start of the race.

Seems like he’s trying to get in as much car racing time as possible before heading back to the studios. Can’t blame him!

Why ‘2′? While it would appear an obvious answer, considering it’s the second in the line, the reason for the name is a bit more romantic.

Patrick Dempsey is currently in Le Mans, France doing what he loves to do in his off-time from Grey’s Anatomy: car racing. The actor is taking part in this year’s “24 Hours of Le Mans,” an all-day, non-stop race. He’s part of Team Seattle and will be driving a Ferrari F430 GT. No doubt us fans will be cheering on him from afar and wishing him a safe ride.

I hope that by now everyone’s gotten a chance to watch last night’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy “Stand By Me.” What an awesome episode that was! I know a lot of people have lost faith in the show, but I really think they’ve been knocking it out of the ballpark lately. This last episode was truly wonderful.

Faye Dunaway, Mommy Dearest herself, is scrubbing in at Seattle Grace. Ausiello confirms that the actress has signed on to guest star in a February episode of Grey’s Anatomy.

What’s the role, you wonder?

Well, it seems that her character is already well-known throughout the hospital - we just haven’t gotten to meet her yet. She’ll be playing a “renowned doc at the hospital who crosses paths with the Chief, Cristina and Owen.”

No clue what her specialty might be, but I’m looking forward to finding out more about her character.

The nominations for the 2009 People’s Choice Awards are in and Grey’s Anatomy is (surprise, surprise) nominated for Favorite TV Drama. It will be going head to head with CSI and House.

Katherine Heigl’s 27 Dresses is nominated in the Favorite Movie Comedy. And Patrick Dempsey is up for Favorite Male TV Star. No sign of any of our favorite ladies from the show on the favorites list.

Patrick Dempsey appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today and discussed Brooke Smith’s firing. He stated that ABC actually told him what to say to the question, pulling out a slip of paper and reading off the “official” statement. It really sounds like the cast of Grey’s is not really on board with this whole mess and that no one quite knows what to say about it.

Patrick Dempsey was spotted and photographed arriving at the Whitney Museum of American Art gala and studio party. Looking rather sharp, as always.

Rumors of a possible MerDer wedding have been making the rounds since last season, and Patrick Dempsey has now been quoted as saying that “something might be happening” with regards to the wedding storyline. Should we take that as confirmation?

According to Kristin from E! Online, the answer is no, or at least, not yet. Her inside sources say that they’ve not yet shot anything involving a wedding. In addition, there’s no plans on the horizon for that MerDer dream house, either.

However, I strongly believe that it’s only a matter of time before we watch Meredith walking down the isle. I think Cristina would make a hilarious maid of honor. At the same time, I’m almost glad to hear there’s no immediate plans for a wedding. They’ve still got a lot of issues to work out before making the ultimate commitment.
