Ellen Pompeo, Katherine Heigl Nominated for LA Times GoldDerby TV Award
July 1, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
Both Ellen Pompeo and Katherine Heigl have been nominated for a 2009 GoldDerby TV Award. What’s a GoldDerby TV Award? Essentially, it’s an award that’s voted on by readers of The Los Angeles Times’ Tom O’Neill’s Gold Derby blog.
While not quite as fancy as an Emmy, these kinds of awards are great for showing support and for giving fans a chance to recognize their favorite actors’ hard work.
Interestingly, Grey’s Anatomy didn’t make the Drama Series category, and neither did any of the Grey’s males in the actors categories. Though Kyle Chandler did make the list for Friday Night Lights and that’s almost close enough.
You can check out the full list of nominees and find out how to vote by heading over to the LA Times.
Congrats and good luck to both Katherine Heigl and Ellen Pompeo!

Katherine Heigl in The Ugly Truth Set Photos
June 29, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
I’ve mentioned before that Katherine Heigl is starring in the upcoming romantic comedy The Ugly Truth. The film premieres on July 24, so it’s almost around the corner. Hope you circled it in you calendars. And for those of you that are really looking forward to the movie, here’s a few stills from the set to keep you excited about seeing Izzie Katherine Heigl again.
For those not looking forward to the movie, why not? Are romance comedies not your thing, or do you not think this one is worth the price of admission?

Katherine Heigl To Star and Produce ‘Life As We Know It’
June 25, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
I think that Katherine Heigl must reside in a different plane of existence, within which days are actually twice as long as they are for the rest of us. That, or the woman doesn’t sleep. She’s got projects lined up, one after the other: The Ugly Truth premieres next month, and she was just in France shooting Five Killers. She’s all set to go on season six of Grey’s Anatomy and now she’s signed up not only to star but also to produce the upcoming big screen drama Life As We Know It. Busy, busy.
Word from insiders assures us fans that her work on the latest film shouldn’t impact her role in next season’s Grey’s. After all, Heigl’s something of a pro at juggling all these roles simultaneously.
For those interested in her latest project, Life As We Know It is about a woman and a man who lose their best friends in a car accident. They are then left to raise their friends’ daughter. Sounds like the kind of movie that requires keeping a box of tissues handy.

Katherine Heigl in The Ugly Truth Movie Poster
June 24, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
For those of you itching for a little bit more of Katherine Heigl, here’s a reminder that she’s starring in the romantic comedy The Ugly Truth alongside Gerard Butler. The film premieres in theaters everywhere on July 24, so the wait is almost over!

In the film, Heigl plays Abby Richter a “romantically challenged” morning show producer who gets teamed up with Mike Chadway (Gerard Butler), a “hardcore TV personality who promises to spill the ugly truth on what makes men and women tick.”
Sounds like a light, funny movie and something fun to catch on a Friday night date. Don’t confuse this with Five Killers in which she stars alongside Ashton Kutcher. Will let you know when that one’s ready to premiere as well.

It’s Official: Katherine Heigl to Remain on Grey’s Anatomy
June 19, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
On the heels of the tragic news that T.R. Knight is leaving Seattle Grace (probably for good), comes the really great news that Katherine Heigl is staying on. What does this mean for season six? Well, there’s no guarantees of anything when it comes to the storyline and what happens to the characters, but actors leaving and staying on is usually a good indication about what happens to their fictional counterparts.
The way things are looking: George dies, Izzie lives.
As saddened as I am that any of them has to die, I think I would’ve been more surprised if the outcome had been any different. But I know a lot of you were thinking/hoping that George would be the one to survive and Izzie would head through the exit doors.
This is a pretty major development for the series. When season six airs, we’ll be missing one of the core characters that made Grey’s Anatomy the show it is today. Do you think that T.R. Knight/George being gone from the show will mean the end of the series as we know it? Will you stop watching all together or is Izzie’s survival enough to keep you glued to the screen?
Drop your thoughts in the comments!

Latest Official Word On Grey’s Anatomy Rumors
June 1, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
While the media fans the flames of rumors and speculation and us fans continue to contemplate the future of Grey’s Anatomy and its cast, the folks behind the show - i.e. Shonda Rhimes & Co - are running around trying to dispell these rumors. So, for those of you that want to keep track of what’s being said officially, here’s a quick rundown for you:
- Regarding the rumor that T.R. Knight might be replaced by a different actor in order to keep George alive, the official word from Shonda Rhimes on this is, “A hilarious, ridiculous rumor.” She stated this via Twitter.
- Regarding the rumor that T.R. Knight has officially been let out of his contract - It seems T.R. Knight remains contracted with the series throughout Season 6. This is backed up by ABC’s President, and also an industry source that has stated that, “Nothing at all has changed in T.R.’s status.” This of course is no guarantee of anything regarding George’s future, simply that the actor is still contracted to the show.
- More on T.R. Knight from Shonda Rhimes: “There have been lots of rumors about T.R., but T.R.’s never said anything. Take from it what you will.”
- There is no official word from either T.R. Knight’s or Katherine Heigl’s reps on any of this stuff.
In other words: T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl will be back if ABC/Shonda Rhimes wishes for them to be back. And for the moment, no one wants us to know what’s going to happen with George and Izzie.
For the sake of everyone’s sanity, I’d advice everyone to sit back and not believe anything one way or another regarding either character. It’s very unlikely that those who actually know anything for certain are going to be leaking it, and it’s going to be a bit before things start leaking from above.
I’ll say that I’m relieved that the rumor that George might be back as a different actor has been put to rest. I didn’t really imagine they’d go that route, but all the same: phew.

Katherine Heigl Gets Dropped from Film
May 27, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
The latest rumors and gossip surrounding Katherine Heigl have nothing to do with Izzie’s fate. But for those of you that like to keep up with the actors in their off-time, here’s what’s going on: Apparently, Heigl asked for the astronomical price of $3 million for an ensemble role that would’ve probably seen her working about three days.
She was cast for the film, Valentines’ Day, a romantic comedy directed by Garry Marshall, and as the rumor has it, due to her monetary demand, she was dropped from the film.
Others starring in this film: Julia Roberts, Jennifer Garner, Anne Hathaway, Ashton Kutcher, Shirley McLaine and Bradley Cooper.
It seems producers could not meet the $3 million price tag hanging around Katherine Heigl’s neck. The number has been cited as “ridiculous” due to the fact that the film has no lead role. The work would be at most fourteen days and at the very least three days.
Despite the fact that sources are stating that the film dropped Heigl, her reps are stating that these allegations are “ludicrous” and that she’s the one that dropped them for “multiple reasons.” No comment from the spokeswoman for New Line on that.
As always, it’s unclear whether there’s any truth to this, or whether it’s just the media running with the Diva angle again. So feel free to discuss your thoughts on the validity of these rumors.

Word from ABC President on Katherine Heigl, T.R. Knight
May 26, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

As we head into the vast, dark summer months ahead and continue to ponder the future of Izzie and George, we’ll likely encounter a slew of commentary from people on all sides of the industry. Shonda Rhimes has already commented and given us something akin to hope for at least one of the characters - albeit very vague, cryptic hope. And now ABC President Stephen McPherson has dropped the following quote regarding Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight into the mix:
“They’ve both signed on. I can’t say whether or not they’ll both be there.”
So that tells us … well, a whole lot of nothing. But it seems to imply that both actors are willing to reprise their roles. It also puts to rest all those rumors going around the discussion thread that neither actor is contracted for next season and that it automatically means George and Izzie both die.
Glancing at the poll results, it seems that most of you believe George will pass on while Izzie will possibly make a miraculous recovery thanks to “some good medicine.” At this point, all options seem possible, so for those of you trying to keep the hope alive, don’t give up.

Katherine Heigl Re-Entering Emmys
May 18, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
Feelings on the finale aside, it’s still hard to deny the fact that Katherine Heigl pulled off an amazing performance this season. She seems to think she did, too, because Ausiello has revealed that the actress will be dropping her name into the Emmy nomination box for the upcoming award.
If you recall, last year was all a scandal, when Heigl stated that she hadn’t been given any Emmy-worthy material. If you also recall, this is around the time when all the Izzie-is-going-to-die rumors started. Well, Heigl doesn’t have that complaint this time around. What’s more Emmy-worthy than an emotional battle with cancer and potential death?
Of course, whether or not she might win a second time is anybody’s guess, but I think she’d be a worthy nominee.
What do you think?

Grey’s Anatomy Spoilers: Meredith/Thatcher/Chief
April 30, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
This week’s Ausiello didn’t bring huge amounts of spoilers in the way of Grey’s Anatomy. It did, however, bring some good news for Arizona fans: Jessica Capshaw is coming back next season! And not only that, she’s in the process of signing on to be a full-on series regular. Yay! We knew it was a possibility, and now it’s getting to be pretty near official.
Alas, we still don’t know if Izzie and/or George come back next season, and must continue the long, painful wait for answers.
But for you Katherine Heigl fans, there’s this from Sharon Lawrence (she who plays Izzie’s mom in tonight’s episode). I’m going to quote it in its entirety because it’s flattering and nice. On the subject of her first day on the set of Grey’s, she has this to say on the subject of Heigl:
“The first thing I did was barge in and hug her,” Lawrence explains with a laugh. “I could tell right away she was present and not guarded. We got to know each other as the day went on, because we would have time to talk about other things while we were waiting to work. It’s an odd thing we do for a living. Sometimes you have to get very close to somebody right away. That’s why I was so grateful for her openness and warmth, and it’s because of that that we were able to make physical and emotional choices that really conveyed the intimacy these two had. She is such an honest and open actress. There is not an untrue bone in her body as an actor, and it made my job so easy.”
Further proof that Katherine Heigl is awesome.
And now for some actual spoilers. These pertain to Meredith and her relationship with both Thatcher and the Chief.
