Both Ellen Pompeo and Katherine Heigl have been nominated for a 2009 GoldDerby TV Award. What’s a GoldDerby TV Award? Essentially, it’s an award that’s voted on by readers of The Los Angeles Times’ Tom O’Neill’s Gold Derby blog.

While not quite as fancy as an Emmy, these kinds of awards are great for showing support and for giving fans a chance to recognize their favorite actors’ hard work.

Interestingly, Grey’s Anatomy didn’t make the Drama Series category, and neither did any of the Grey’s males in the actors categories. Though Kyle Chandler did make the list for Friday Night Lights and that’s almost close enough.

Ellen Pompeo was spotted out and about recently, cell phone in one hand, Starbucks cup in the other, and proudly showing off her growing belly. The Grey’s Anatomy actress has been pregnant for a few months, and it’s still unknown whether her real life pregnancy will make it into season 6 of the show. Shonda Rhimes is keeping pretty silent on that front, as well as many other fronts. But it’s still exciting for the happy parents to be!

As most of us know, Ellen Pompeo and her husband Chris Ivery are expecting their first child. And if you didn’t know it, well looking at the following photos should spoil you. Here’s the Grey’s Anatomy actress looking very pregnant while inspecting the construction that’s underway at her new home in Universal City in California.

I look forward to seeing what Shonda Rhimes & Co. end up doing about the pregnancy. It seems most fans would love to see the pregnancy incorporated into the Meredith/Derek storyline. But it’s hard to say whether or not that will actually happen any time soon.

So, in case you haven’t heard: Ellen Pompeo’s pregnant. We’re all very happy for her and for her hubby Chris Ivery. Of course, pregnancy in real life generally means a huge headache in the writers’ room. Shonda Rhimes is refusing to answer questions about it yet on twitter, and Michael Ausiello ponders on CNN how the show is going to deal with a potential 3-month maternity leave for their lead actress.

But what about you guys? Do you think the powers that be should write the pregnancy in for Meredith or do you think they should hide it (like they’re doing with Chyler Leigh’s). Is it too soon for a McBaby?

Personally, while I wouldn’t be opposed to Meredith getting pregnant, I’m not sure the timing is right for that storyline yet. I am, however, looking forward to seeing what they come up with and how they deal with it. I’m more worried about the notion of Ellen Pompeo being absent from the show for a long period of time.

Last night Michael Ausiello talked to CNN about Grey’s Anatomy. One of the main topics was Ellen Pompeo’s pregnancy and how the show will deal with what will likely be a 3 month maternity leave.

Another topic is Kaley Cuoco and how she doesn’t know what her character is going to be, though speculation seems to buzz around a potential relative of Izzie’s.

Ellen Pompeo and her husband, Chris Ivery, have officially confirmed the pregancy to PEOPLE! Looks like Shonda Rhimes is going to have fun hiding all of these pregnancies. If you recall, Chyler Leigh is also pregnant. They could always turn it into some kind of Grey sisters pregnancy extravaganza! Only hopefully not. And I doubt they will, because there doesn’t seem to be any plans to make Lexie pregnant any time soon.

I recall reading a ‘tweet’ from Shonda stating that Meredith would not be pregnant but I can’t seem to find it. If anyone spots it and can send me a link to it, I’ll edit this post and add it.

Yesterday, on Twitter, I posted a link to a German interview with the cast of Grey’s Anatomy and a kind soul took the time to translate the interview into English (thanks @yirehmail!!).

The interview features Patrick Dempsey talking about his thoughts regarding the season, car racing and what he thinks about being the Sexiest Man Alive. Also, Ellen Pompeo, who comments on Derek’s new look, but thinks it’s less enjoyable to kiss him because it’s scratchy. Sandra Oh who states that she’s a big fan of humor and also talks about working with Kevin McKidd. Kevin McKidd returns the favor and also talks about Scotland.

Ellen Pompeo dropped by Children’s Hospital Boston yesterday, alongside her husband Chris Ivery. She was naturally pressed about the rumors surrounding the upcoming Grey’s Anatomy wedding. Although, they’re not so much rumors anymore, since Shonda Rhimes herself confirmed it. Sort of. Well, in a cryptic sort of way.

Pompeo didn’t let anything slip, though, besides the usual. But I suppose we can dissect that little nugget of info through the magnifying glass of obsessive-compulsive speculation and fan-geekiness.

The October 2008 issue of Allure will feature the lovely Ellen Pompeo on the cover. And within its glossy pages, you can find an interview with the actress in which she discusses the possibility of having a baby in the near future. “I’ve got to get on it, because the clock is ticking,” she tells Allure.

In addition to the baby discussion, Pompeo also talks about her quiet wedding to Chris Ivery nearly a year ago and why she didn’t do the big wedding dress thing. Since she gets to dress up all the time, she didn’t really feel the need to do so at her wedding.

The actress also talks a bit about Grey’s Anatomy. She’s got two more years on the contract which means much more MerDer fun ahead. She also reveals to Allure that she was never a fan of medical shows and was entirely surprised that Grey’s Anatomy actually hit it big. “I never watched one episode of ER,” she says. “When I did the pilot, I thought, ‘I can’t stand medical shows. This will never get on.’”

Haha! How wrong was she? I’m sure she’s not complaining one bit, though. I wonder if her feelings about medical shows remain?

The 60th Primetime Emmy Awards has released the final list of presenters for the awards show on Sunday night and Patrick Dempsey and Sandra Oh are officially among the stars in the lineup.

Hosted by five reality TV gurus, the award ceremony will air live on ABC on Sunday, September 21. The show will be held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
