What we can take away from the interview is this: There is going to be a lot of drama for the couple mainly because television calls for conflict. As McKidd said, “The characters can’t be happy all the time.” However, he also admits that both he and co-star Sandra Oh hope the two will find a happy ending. “You’ve got to believe that love for love will win out in the end.” It’s nice to know that the actors are for the couple working out. At least, it is if you’re cheering for Owen and Cristina to work it out.

There’s no details as to how exactly Kim Raver’s character will mess with the relationship, but the actor teases us with, “People are hopefully going to be very, very torn and very involved and kind of sucked into it. I think it’s a very interesting story we’re telling…Stuff happens that you do not expect. Because you know when things like this happen in life, it can change your perception on a dime. And I think the intensity of that is going to be a really interesting player.”

Vague but intriguing. Lots of mystery about what will be involved in this love triangle between the three docs.

If you wish to remain fully in the dark about the future of the show and its characters, do look away. Otherwise, carry on.

In regards to the Teddy/Owen/Cristina (Bermuda) Triangle, she says that new doc Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) will mess with Cristina and Owen’s relationship “but not how you’d expect.” Rhimes continued, “I think everyone assumes it’s going to go one way. It’s a very different story than we’ve ever told before.”

In related news, Kevin McKidd told TV Guide, “Something happens between the three of them that’s pretty explosive. Up until now you’ve not really seen anyone draw any lines in the sand, but you start to see that this week.”

What does it all mean? Besides the obvious: Cristina does not like Teddy. So much for loving her present.

Moving on to Meredith and Derek:

Well, we know they’re not breaking up. And that they’re going to have “work-related challenges.” Aside from that, we don’t really know much more. Rhimes said, “I think a lot of what’s going on with them is watching them come into their own as doctors [and] watching what goes on between them in the hospital situation.” So, work-related challenges. Emotional highs and lows. The usual.

If you’re concerned for the Chief after the end of last week’s episode: You should be. According to Shonda Rhimes, that whole mess is going to “get a little complicated. That’s going to get more complicated than I think anybody expects.” Can we say uh-oh? Doesn’t look like it will get complicated in the surgery department though. “I really want to protray the real story and what happens when a doctor goes off the wagon and how they deal with that.”

On the plus side, if you love Loretta Divine (Mrs. Chief) good news: She’ll be back often. Hooray!

Regarding Katherine Heigl’s return and then confirmed re-departure, Shonda Rhimes says that they’ll adapt to the change and that they have no idea how long her “maternity” will last for.

Speaking of parents, Mark Sloan will be dealing with that particular storyline soon enough as his grown-up child makes an appearance. Of this particular story, Rhimes said, “That’s going to be fairly interesting. We’re going to dive very far into Mark Sloan and discover a bunch of stuff.”

So we’ve got lots of little snippets of info to digest. What do you think will happen with Cristina/Teddy/Owen. Are you enjoying that storyline or do you wish they’d put the triangle aside? A lot of you are cheering for Cristina/Jackson. Are some of you cheering for Teddy/Owen?

Directed by playwright Gregory Burke, this film borrows from the classic Homer’s Odyssey and should prove to be a worthwhile 59 minutes. Plus: Kevin McKidd. Other actors: Michelle Ryan (who plays McKidd’s wife), Igal Naor, James Cosmo, Ewen Bremner, David Hayman, Gary Lewis, Jamie Sives, Sanjeev Kohli.

For those of you that can make it, the film will be showing on November 13 at 8:30pm at the Playhouse Cinema, Eden Court.

Official film summary:

Peter (McKidd) and Penny (Ryan) are an ordinary middle class couple: childless, career-minded and cosseted. But when Penny is admitted to A&E with what appears to be a minor complaint, their world is turned upside down.

Yesterday, on Twitter, I posted a link to a German interview with the cast of Grey’s Anatomy and a kind soul took the time to translate the interview into English (thanks @yirehmail!!).

Sounds like Hunt will be taking George under his wing and all of this will lead to a very dramatic episode that will put George front and center. Of course, the big question remains whether this sudden spotlight on George’s character is written to show fans that he’s just as important as ever before and therefore not going anywhere, or if it’s meant to pave the path for a permanent farewell.

Kevin McKidd

The actor sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss Grey’s Anatomy, and a few of his answers are featured in Ausiello’s latest spoilerfest.

In the interview, McKidd discusses Hunt’s mid-night attack of Cristina and where that leads in terms of storyline. Looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more Derek and Hunt bonding.

He also answers the question of how he felt about taking a role that deals with “such a touchy issue” as PTSD, and he says that originally the role was meant to be more romantic, but that the writers quickly saw the potential to dig deeper.

As to whether he feels that Owen and Cristina are really in love he says, “I think they’re really in love.” But after tonight’s incident, “he’ll be focusing on himself for a while.” So prepare yourselves for a (temporary) Cristina/Owen break-up.

Kevin McKidd

First of all, the thing on everyone’s mind is the MerDer proposal. Is it finally happening this week? According to McKidd (and pretty much everyone else), “Yes. The last time I looked, that was the case.” The title of the episode, “Elevator Love Letter,” does little to conceal the location of the long-awaited proposal.

But there’s still the question of the wedding. We now know that Shonda Rhimes confirmed a wedding this season, however we don’t know who will be getting married. Would a quick MerDer wedding be enough of a “surprise?” No one seems to know. In fact, McKidd said, “Even I don’t know that yet.”

But we can probably rule out Hunt and Cristina, given the fact that Hunt’s PTSD is a major problem for the relationship, something that we’ll get to see first hand in tomorrow night’s episode (sneak peek here).

Regarding the other Big Question: Are Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight headed through the exit doors? McKidd says everyone’s there and everyone’s working and everyone’s got their contracts. Which basically means: No one’s going to tell us.

The show has already cast Laura Allen (Dirt, The 4400, All My Children) to play – wait for it – his ex-lover. She’ll be guest starring in the 15th’s episode (which also happens to be Melissa George’s last).

But that’s not all! Kevin McKidd himself revealed that Hunt’s mother and father might also make an appearance. They “might be” cast later on.

I’m thinking Cristina and the ex-lover are going to have some fun scenes together. Well, I hope, anyway.

Speaking of Cristina and Hunt, it’s likely that things between the two will be heating up soon. Soon, but not quite yet. But soon. Really.
