Grey’s Anatomy Webisode “On Call” Part 1

November 23, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

ABC released the first part of their Grey’s Anatomy webisode entitled “On Call” which follows the doctors of Seattle Grace around. More specifically, it follows some of the interns/residents and some of the new Mercy Westers. The full purpose of the webisodes is unclear, though I imagine that it’s partly to gauge how well this series would do without the main cast (my guess is not well). And also to give people something Grey’s Anatomy-related to watch during the long hiatus ahead. And also to give us more background on the characters we don’t get to see very often. And also to keep up with other TV shows/networks doing the same thing. And also cause it’s probably fun for those involved.

If you missed the first part of “On Call,” don’t fret, it’s up at ABC.com and also you can watch it below:

For me, it’s a bit like they’re trying to marry Grey’s Anatomy with The Office and failing miserably in the process. I can’t say that I enjoyed it very much. Grey’s Anatomy without the core cast feels very off to me. On top of which, the story isn’t very compelling. But perhaps it gets better. Then again, I like the idea of webisodes, so I hope they keep on coming.

Hello! This was very boring!! I’m not watching Grey’s because of these people! I’m watching Grey’s because of the regular staff!! I’m missing them a lot this season! Very very much!

  4. Nats says:

Wow, I hated it. It’s nothing like the real Grey’s.

I am a real hard core GA fan and cant get enough of the show.

To see where Season 6 is going can only be sumed up as extremely disappointing and its is definately losing it.

There is too much of a change from Season 5 to 6 and too much experimenting going on with the plot. There are way to many new characters (just adding the odd new character is great) there is just so little ‘original’ and ‘classic’ greys left that has left me and many others i know no longer craving for the next greys installment.

Shonda, please go back to more of the original or i fear you will lose the majority of your fans.

Please bring some of the ‘old’ greys back, more exposure to original characters and not so many characters

it reminds me of something. what can it be? it’s on the tip of my tongue… dammit! what is it?! oh… it’s kinda like that little obscure show called the office. i think.

  7. Linda says:

BORING!!! And even the acting was poor. I don’t care about these people (and after this I still don’t) and I agree that there are way too many new people and the old people aren’t getting the attention they deserve!

  8. Jessica says:

    AWEFUL.

  9. Natalie says:

    BOOOooring!

  10. Hadrana says:

    yess..I mis old characters,too…and I really don´t like people from mercy west…and I want Izzie back…

plz tell someone connected to this web thing not to bother with another episode. If the storylines aren’t worthy of GA episode, then don’t bother. I feel Joe is totally wasted here.

If they could keep Mr Potato Head and his love interest out of GA proper I’m sure I’m not the only one who would be shouting HOORAY

  12. Laura says:

    this really sucked.
what happened to the good old way greys anatomy used to entertain us?

and having said this.: why don´t you guys just bring back burke. he was the beat character of the show.

  13. It looked like the guys who typically do the documentary at The Office took a break and came to Seattle. I felt a bit uncomfortable with these characters, but it was nice to see Shondaland experiment like this. I would love to see some of these with at least one of the major characters.

  14. Taylor says:

This webisode was horrible! ugh can you say disaster!? I want the old Grey’s Anatomy back!!!

  15. Chloe says:

This was awful! A documentry captures none of the drama of a good GA episode and the characters! They were cheesy, I definetely liked it better when they didn’t play any major role. These webisodes are not up to Grey’s standard. :(

  16. Dolly says:

I do not like the whole set of new boring characters from mercy west….and im a hardcore GA fan! Dropped Burke, dropped Hawn, dropped George, almost close to dropping Izzie….
I dont have any motivation to watch GA these days…i think i might just skip it after izzie leaves too.
