TV Guide Interviews Robert Baker and Spoilers for Season 6
October 22, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
Love ‘em or hate them, the Mercy Westers aren’t going anywhere any time soon, and TV Guide has managed to track another one down for a sitdown and Q&A answer session. This week, they’ve cast the spotlight on Robert Baker, otherwise known as Dr. Charles Denman, or the guy that was a big jerk to Izzie.
You can go ahead and read the full interview over at TV Guide, but if you just want the highlights, here they are:
- Charles = The new villain at Seattle Grace
- The process of getting people to warm up to the Mercy Westers will be slow-going, but fans will be forced to admit that – if nothing else – they’re at least good doctors.
- Some people will be mad at Charles for getting Izzie fired, while others won’t blame him quite as much.
- Alex and Charles have some scenes together in tonight’s episode and Alex’s dislike of Charles is evident, but Alex has Charles “under his thumb a little bit and takes advantage of it.”
- Possible attraction between Reed and Alex. The two of them have “that competitive attraction sort of thing,” which may or may not lead to anything.
- Cristina and Jackson (Jesse Williams) will have an adversarial relationship that may lead somewhere.
- If you’re waiting for bad stuff to happen to the Mercy Westers, you’ll likely get to see some of that coming up.
- About tonight’s episode: “There’s been a massive apartment-building fire. It’s just total chaos. It’s a he-said-she-said. There’s too many doctors and too much commotion. It’s all centered around one patient who we lose. It’s trying to find out who was actually responsible for the death of this young lady. I can neither confirm nor deny the hospital of origin of the killing party.”
- And finally, when Izzie comes back into town it’s all going to boil down to one word: Revenge.
Dun dun dunn! Everyone got their DVRs set for tonight’s episode?

Ok I will admit tonights episode was a good one….but going by the previews why the heck is every single episode of this year someones career is in jeopardy?? And what has happened to the characters story lines outside of the hospital…its all about the rival between the new and old guys! Lets get back on track even if the new guys stay on as it appears that is what Shonda is doing, lets get back to the good stories and enough of all this fighting and rival crap!!!
Very nicely put, KC!
I missed last night’s episode : ( I was at my school’s Homecoming Dance instead…still don’t know if it was worth missing Grey’s for it…? : D

YES YES YES — What a great episode! We were on the edges of our chairs for the entire hour. Loved the drama, loved the surprises (Cristina chews out the little boy… ho hum…. WHOA… because he had grabbed the paddles???), loved the insight into in-fighting on a shift that can happen for so many different reasons, loved how it came across to us that so many things can happen, NO one might be at fault (pay attention, all you who are ready to sue all the doctors and the hospital itself)……
And what I loved most, was that it was a CLEAN show. For once, we got away from the stupid s** talk, about relationships and implants and for-crying-out-loud stupidity.
Yes, some love-hate drama is great, and we all enjoy the Meredith/Derek genuine thing, and we ALL LOVE BAILEY (more, more, more, please — she is perfect! Keep her perfect!)… but please, keep the dirty stuff to a minimum, if not zero. What a great show this can be without dirty stuff.
Surely hope the producers of this show read your blog.
