Hiding Ellen Pompeo’s Baby Bump Throughout Filming

September 28, 2009 by Franca Schulte

So everyone was wondering how they were going to hide Ellen’s baby bump during the filming of this season of Grey’s. Were they going to include it in the storyline? How were they going to hide it? Will Meredith disappear for a bit on the show? So far none of the above. They managed to hide Ellen’s bump throughout the entire 2 hour premier!

To be honest, I completely forgot that she was pregnant while I was watching! I was so into the show for every other reason that I forgot to notice that they were hiding it! My cousin had to bring it up the day after. “Did you notice that they always showed Meredith from the back, or only from the neck up, or sitting down?” Once she mentioned that, I knew that she was right. Obviously they did a good job of it though since I didn’t notice! So they got through the first premier, but will they get through the rest of the episodes that easily?

She looks about 5 – 6 months pregnant so I’m guessing her due date is somewhere at the end of the year, or very early Jan! Just realized that I’m behind on the news! Ellen actually had her baby September 15th!

The filming for Season 6 all took place earlier in July, so it will be interesting to see how the episodes from here on in take place! Thanks Sandra for pointing that out :)

Greys Anatomy Season 6 Premiere

September 25, 2009 by Franca Schulte

Season 6 of Grey’s Anatomy has finally begun! We have been waiting patiently all summer long to have some our questions answered, and waiting to see how the story plot thickens.  Does Izzy die? Does George die? Was that really George who jumped in front of the bus? We found out all of this last night during the 2 hour season finale.

I think the biggest question of all was whether or not Izzy lives. It was a pretty sure deal to say that George had already died because we all knew through the media that he was getting off the show. There can’t really be a George without a T.R Knight right? So that answer was pretty much already answered. The second question was whether Izzie or not was going to join him. Again, the media had to ruin this for us. It all began when both TR and Katherine Heigl were going to leave the show together. They were such good friends that if one of them left, the other was to follow. Turns out though that really only George said goodbye, while Izzie Stevens decided to ‘live’ on.

I knew right from the finale that George had died and Izzie had not. It was all so spelled out for us. Izzie came up the elevator, while George was already standing on the ‘other side’. Izzie never got off the elevator which means Izzie never died. She consciously made that decision to not step off the elevator. What we didn’t know is what would happen in the premier. Would something go wrong after the fact? Or would there still be complications in her operation?

I always love the beginning and end to Grey’s Anatomy. Meredith Grey always has some sort of metaphorical monologue and the end always ties into what she said at the beginning. This episode, she talks about the 5 stages of grieving. Like all other episodes, each stage ties in perfectly with how each of them are reacting to George’s death.

My favorite part of last night was during George’s funeral, where Izzie has to leave with her head down and Meredith, Karev, and Christina all follow thinking she’s about to collapse in tears. Turns out, she was laughing her head off. It was a really cute scene where you could just feel for all of them what they must be going through, and shares the friendship between them. I have actually been in a situation similar, where it is the sadist day ever because something terrible happens, and all you can do is laugh. It doesn’t make sense because the situation is far from funny, but you just can’t help yourself. In someway it’s comforting to know that the lowest of the low, still can turn out.

So where does that leave the characters?

Meredith and McDreamy. They are always off and on so of course people foreshadowed the ‘post-it’ falling off the locker and bad things happening to them and fighting all over again, but the opposite happened. They can’t get enough of each other ‘literally’. Even doing it on the stairs!  Their response? ‘Newly-weds”

Christina and Owen. They have really grown on me. He is still dealing with his post trauma’s and afraid of hurting Christina, but talking it through with his counselor. The moral of their story is ‘to wait’. You can actually feel their sexual tension as all they want to do is go crazy, but know the right thing to do is wait for Owen to deal with his problems first, and be able to open up in front of Christina. Once he is comfortable to talk about his issues and war stories with her, they can move forward. An end clip showed the two of them finally slowly opening up and talking about it and you can tell they are starting their journey.

Izzie and Karev. You can feel the tension between them. Karev has automatically jumped head over heels for Izzie and can’t live without her. You would think that now that she survived and is alive, he wouldn’t be able to keep his hands off her and be extra nice but the opposite is happening instead. He has created a wall up because he is so afraid to loose her again. Izzie is just lonely and wants to be touched so she can feel like she is living again, but Karev is being Karev. The jerk in him that comes out when is feeling something for real.

‘McSteamy’ and Lexie. Lexie is afraid to move in with Mark Sloan. Why? No idea. Wow that guy is hot. Great body, and he def has quieted down since when he first appeared on the show. He used to be full of himself and was just going to cause trouble, but now that he has a main part, they have windled him into the show nicely. The only thing that seems to be worrying Lexie is the fact that he moved across the hall from Callie! I don’t think she should be worried, and if she is, move in with him! He asked Lexie to move in, so she is the one that just has to say the magic words and problem solved! Besides, Callie is with Dr. Robin which seems to be a pretty steady relationship. Lexie was worried and asked Callie how gay she really was so that she could be at ease. Her answer wasn’t necessarily yes or no, just that Dr. Sloan never looks at her boobs anymore and apparently that was enough of an answer.

My heart goes out to Bailey. I love Dr. Bailey. I think she is a great character and always balances everything out. She is at a point right now where she is just emotionally drained. Too much heart, too much passion, and too much sensitivity has gone into all her patients, interns and work that she just wants to collapse.

And what do we think about the Chief? I used to always have a lot of respect for the Chief but not during this episode. Wasn’t he already retired? Wasn’t his end always about to come sooner than later? Well it almost has with the ‘merging’ of Seattle Grace will be merging with Mercy West and that all of their jobs are at risk. There are not jobs for everyone, so everyone must be on their best.

Did this season preimere have to be two hours? No, but it did get the ball rolling and reminded people of what’s what and where we were/are in the story. I just love Grey’s Anatomy as it is so 2 hours of entertainment, I’m not going to complain!

General Grey’s Anatomy Spoilers for Season 6

September 17, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

The latest from Ausiello brings very little in the way of major spoilers. It’s more answers to questions we sort of already know the answer to. But there is a spoilerish answer, somewhat vague, but spoilers tend to be that way. So here we go.

**spoilers**

For those of you that haven’t seen the first five minutes of the season 6 premiere, here you go:

They’re sort of evil, aren’t they, those Grey’s Anatomy people? Leading us on to believe that there’s a chance it’s not George.

Lots of people are now confused because of the sneak peek and are wondering if there’s a chance that George is still alive. Ausiello responds, “Yes, there’s a chance. A really, really small chance. Tiny. See where I’m going with this?” There’s no chance. Don’t get your hopes up. Move through denial into acceptance.

The other question asked of Ausiello was whether Katherine Heigl adopting was the reason for her five week hiatus from the show. Ausiello says that’s not what he’s heard. What we’ve all heard is that she’s filming a movie and needed some time off for that.

In terms of actual spoilers for the series, he did have some, in the way of: “The looming shakeup at Seattle Grace will have everyone fearing for his/her jobs. And that includes Cristina, who is forced to consider the unthinkable: a career in pediatrics.”

Is everyone going into pediatrics? My goodness.

And… that’s it from Ausiello.

But the good news is that season 6 premieres in one week. One. Week. At long, long last.

What did you all think of the first five minutes? I’m really looking forward to seeing the whole episode. Although, I know it’s going to be a tearjerker the whole way through.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 6 Spoilers for Izzie

September 15, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

We’re less than two weeks away from the season 6 premiere of Grey’s Anatomy. Excitement is in the air. Babies are in the air (not literally, that would be scary). Spoilers are in the air. And that brings us to the point of this post, which is to bring you some spoilers concerning Katherine Heigl and Izzie. Well, Izzie in particular.

We know that Katherine Heigl will be taking a break from Grey’s to wrap up filming Life As You Know It. This means the writers had to figure out a way to write Izzie out of the show for a whole five episodes. And if you’re wondering how they might go about that, there’s some hints coming our way thanks to E! Online.

**Spoilers**

According to E!, Izzie will continue to battle with cancer for a while. A cancer patient support group will be a big part of her storyline for season 6. It’s unclear whether that will lead into her five-episode hiatus, or whether her absence will be due to something else. But it’s possible that this might have something to do with it. It is also unclear in what way Izzie’s illness will affect her relationship with Alex, and whether potential issues there might result in her needing a trial separation (or something of the sort) leading to her temporary departure.

Season six is right around the corner, which means that so are all of the answers to our long-held questions.

What possible reasons do you see for Izzie taking a break from Seattle Grace? Something cancer related? Something Alex related? Something George related? Or something new and unexpected?

Grey’s Anatomy Season 6 Premiere Spoilers: MerDer, Owen/Cristina

September 11, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

We’re inching along towards the long-awaited September 24 premiere of Grey’s Anatomy, which means more and more spoilerish details seeping through the cracks and landing on our eager laps.

If you haven’t yet spoiled yourself and wish to continue down the path of innocence, then off you go. Shoo. Away from this post.

Otherwise, let’s join hands and frolic through the latest spoilers from Ausiello, shall we?

**Spoilers**

So, speaking of holding hands … Owen and Cristina will be doing just that during the premiere. That’s right. Nothing like hot, unadulterated, uncensored hand-holding. Remember: They will be taking it slowly.

But what about MerDer? Anything new there? According to Ausiello, there will be a scene during George’s funeral that “should put a smile on your face.” Smiling during the funeral? Hmm. Tricky.

Any guesses as to what that might be?

Katherine Heigl To Adopt Baby From Korea

September 10, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

Well, well, it seems we were all wrong about the stroller-shopping picture. Katherine Heigl isn’t pregnant, no, but the possibility that the stroller was a gift for Ellen Pompeo seems far less likely now. During a live taping of The Ellen DeGeneres Show (airing tomorrow), Katherine Heigl reveals that she and husband Josh Kelley are adopting a little girl from Korea.

The baby girl – named Naleigh, after Heigl’s mother (Nancy) and sister (Leigh) – will be ten months old at the end of September. As she told Ellen, “She was actually born the day before me in November, which I thought was really serendipitous and just kind of like a sign. I realized just recently that I basically forfeited my birthday for the rest of my life.”

The news, while seemingly out of the deep blue, has been a long time in the making. Two years ago, Heigl told USA Today that she was “done with the whole idea of having [her] own children.” Adoption was a natural next step for the couple.

Adoption is a beautiful thing, and I’m sure I’m not alone in saying a big “congratulations!” to the parents-to-be.

Look for the interview on Ellen tomorrow.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 6 Premiere Sneak Peek

September 9, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

Oh happy day: The sneak peeks are starting to pour down from the heavenly sky of ABC headquarters. Despite all promises of tears and mega sadness, this first sneak peek lets us know that it won’t all be doom and gloom come September 24. There will also be lighthearted sexual escapades starring MerDer. Well, mostly Der, actually, since filming Ellen Pompeo in the nude would’ve given away the whole pregnancy thing. But there’s the voice of Meredith which is almost good enough. And then there’s … well, I’ll just let you watch it. Don’t want to spoil it for anyone.

This is much nicer than snippets of cemeteries and beeping medical machines.

New Grey’s Anatomy Season 6 Promo

September 8, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

ABC is being particularly ominous with its Grey’s Anatomy promos. They want to give it away without giving it away. A flash of Izzie bald and gasping. A flash of a cemetery. A flash of Meredith crying. A flash of the logo. Reading between the lines, and ignoring all the spoilers most of us already know, here’s what we can ascertain from this promo alone: We’re going to cry come the premiere. We’re going to cry because they want us to cry. ABC has already bought stock in Kleenex.

September 24, my friends. Almost there. Who else is stocking up on tissues?

Grey’s Anatomy Season 6 Spoilers: Callie and Arizona

September 4, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

admphotos435673-Sara-RamirezIt sounds like all of the Grey’s Anatomy couples are going to be given their own set of obstacles to overcome this upcoming season. The course of true love never did run smooth, after all, and Callie and Arizona will not be exempt from the drama.

So what’s to come for our favorite sapphic couple?

**Spoilers**

Two words: Hector Elizondo.

That’s right! Daddy Torres is going to return to Seattle Grace and this time he’s not alone. He’ll be bringing a different sort of Father along to help out with his daughter’s … erm, situation. Mr. Torres is determined to ease the troubled waters in his relationship with Callie by turning to divine intervention.

Looks like Callie and Arizona are going to have some issues to resolve once the two fathers team up.

Let’s hope this has a happy ending somewhere down the line. Look for this storyline during episode 6.05.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 6 Spoilers: Cristina, Owen, Derek, Mark, Lexie

September 3, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

If you’ve been waiting patiently (or impatiently) for some news and spoilers beyond the usual who’s coming and going, good news: Ausiello posted a nice chunk of spoilers pertaining to Cristina/Owen, Mark/Lexie and Derek-sans-Mer.

So if spoilers cause you any unpleasantness, irritation or itchiness, it’s time to move on to something else (or consult a doctor).

Ready?

Let’s start with Cristina and Owen. What of them? Will they finally get their happily ever after? Maybe! But not yet. Not yet at all. In fact, things between these two are slowing down even further. Instead of running towards each other in slow motion in a field of flowers, they will be crawling, blind-folded, with one leg tied behind their backs. Or something. According to Ausiello, “They’re headed for a dry spell.” So prepare yourselves for the drought. It’s going to be a very long ride towards the sunset. On the plus side, they’re not breaking up.

Moving on to Mark and Lexie. Will they get their happily ever after? Well… from the sounds of it, they’re headed toward a mine field of issues. Forget broken penises; we’re past the silliness. It’s time to get serious and finally pay attention to the elephant in the room holding two birthday cakes. “They’ve got a lot of challenges coming down the pike,” concedes exec producer Krista Vernoff. “The most consistent challenge is the one that’s built into the fabric of their relationship: He’s pushing 40, she’s in her early 20s.” Ah, yes. That.

And last but not least: Derek and Meredith Derek. What will become of our sexy neurosurgeon once his dearly beloved disappears for whatever reason? Apparently, we’re getting a full-on Derek storyline that will “explore Derek as a doctor.” Apparently, Patrick Dempsey has been waiting “patiently” for a storyline that’s separate from the MerDer romance. And this long-awaited story will involve an “extraordinary medical story” in the sixth episode, which coincidentally, is directed by (dun dun dun) Chandra Wilson!

Excited yet?
