Pregnant Ellen Pompeo Photos
May 27, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
As most of us know, Ellen Pompeo and her husband Chris Ivery are expecting their first child. And if you didn’t know it, well looking at the following photos should spoil you. Here’s the Grey’s Anatomy actress looking very pregnant while inspecting the construction that’s underway at her new home in Universal City in California.

I look forward to seeing what Shonda Rhimes & Co. end up doing about the pregnancy. It seems most fans would love to see the pregnancy incorporated into the Meredith/Derek storyline. But it’s hard to say whether or not that will actually happen any time soon.

Katherine Heigl Gets Dropped from Film
May 27, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
The latest rumors and gossip surrounding Katherine Heigl have nothing to do with Izzie’s fate. But for those of you that like to keep up with the actors in their off-time, here’s what’s going on: Apparently, Heigl asked for the astronomical price of $3 million for an ensemble role that would’ve probably seen her working about three days.
She was cast for the film, Valentines’ Day, a romantic comedy directed by Garry Marshall, and as the rumor has it, due to her monetary demand, she was dropped from the film.
Others starring in this film: Julia Roberts, Jennifer Garner, Anne Hathaway, Ashton Kutcher, Shirley McLaine and Bradley Cooper.
It seems producers could not meet the $3 million price tag hanging around Katherine Heigl’s neck. The number has been cited as “ridiculous” due to the fact that the film has no lead role. The work would be at most fourteen days and at the very least three days.
Despite the fact that sources are stating that the film dropped Heigl, her reps are stating that these allegations are “ludicrous” and that she’s the one that dropped them for “multiple reasons.” No comment from the spokeswoman for New Line on that.
As always, it’s unclear whether there’s any truth to this, or whether it’s just the media running with the Diva angle again. So feel free to discuss your thoughts on the validity of these rumors.

Word from ABC President on Katherine Heigl, T.R. Knight
May 26, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

As we head into the vast, dark summer months ahead and continue to ponder the future of Izzie and George, we’ll likely encounter a slew of commentary from people on all sides of the industry. Shonda Rhimes has already commented and given us something akin to hope for at least one of the characters – albeit very vague, cryptic hope. And now ABC President Stephen McPherson has dropped the following quote regarding Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight into the mix:
“They’ve both signed on. I can’t say whether or not they’ll both be there.”
So that tells us … well, a whole lot of nothing. But it seems to imply that both actors are willing to reprise their roles. It also puts to rest all those rumors going around the discussion thread that neither actor is contracted for next season and that it automatically means George and Izzie both die.
Glancing at the poll results, it seems that most of you believe George will pass on while Izzie will possibly make a miraculous recovery thanks to “some good medicine.” At this point, all options seem possible, so for those of you trying to keep the hope alive, don’t give up.

What will happen with George and Izzie?
May 21, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
We’ve got a few months of speculation to get through before the next season of Grey’s Anatomy rolls around. I imagine that official news regarding who is staying and who is going will be a long way off, and if Shonda & Co. manage to get their way, we might not know anything at all until the season six premiere.
So all we’ve got in the meantime is each other and all of our crazy theories as to what might happen. I’m leaning toward the theory that Izzie survives and George walks into the white light. I don’t have any insider info to go by, so this is mere fan speculation. But I think that Izzie surviving makes the most sense. I say this not because Katherine Heigl said she’d stay with the show, but because storyline wise, I think her surviving is important.
Derek quit medicine because he kept losing patients and couldn’t quite see the point of continuing. Part of the reason he slapped on the scrubs again is because Meredith asked him to save Izzie. And I think that’s a story thread that’s worth seeing through. Sure, Derek is happy and back to being Derek and now Post-It married to Meredith. But why bother tying those two storylines together if Izzie was just going to die anyway?
I don’t believe both will die. I think that the OMG-factor is great for a season finale, but there has to be a balance of joy and tragedy to keep the rest of the characters from unraveling. The story has to go on beyond the doom and gloom, and I think losing one but saving the other will make for far more compelling drama than watching the entirety of Seattle Grace attend two funerals.
But that’s just my two cents on the subject. While I lean toward Izzie’s survival, that’s hardly the only option. Both can live, both can die. George can live on through a different actor if T.R. Knight is out the door – though I personally hate that idea.

Some Hope From Shonda Rhimes?
May 20, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
Hopefully by now most of us have managed to put down the tissue box and head outside to feel the sun, smell the flowers, and appreciate life. But of course the questions in the back of our minds return from time to time: Will Izzie die? Will George die? Will they both die?
I’ve been following the disccusion thread closely (lots of great comments in there!) and keeping track of what everyone’s thoughts are on the finale. My own thoughts on the subject boil down to: I think at least one of them survives. And I think that someone is Izzie. I’ll explain why I think this in a different post. But for now, there’s a bit more on the finale and What Comes Next from the Goddess herself: Shonda Rhimes.
I’m going to go ahead and quote her completely so you get the full effect:
“We will definitely answer those questions in the fall,” says creator Shonda Rhimes. “As with anyone you come to love, you don’t want to see them die, but it’s all part of the circle of life.” Still, she allows, “there are some top-notch doctors at Seattle Grace and although there may not be miracles, there could be some good medicine.” And the Season 5 finale did have a bright side: Christina and Hunt are on again, Callie and Arizona are forging a deeper girlfriend-ship, and Der and Mer had a Post-It note wedding. “I wanted you to feel happy for some people,” says Rhimes, noting that “Meredith, our dark and twisty girl, is whole and healed.”
“There could be some good medicine,” sounds somewhat hopeful to me. No miracles, but some good medicine. Reading between the lines, I’m only more convinced that at least one of them survives. I’m inclined to believe that only one of them survives.
What do you think?

Katherine Heigl Re-Entering Emmys
May 18, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
Feelings on the finale aside, it’s still hard to deny the fact that Katherine Heigl pulled off an amazing performance this season. She seems to think she did, too, because Ausiello has revealed that the actress will be dropping her name into the Emmy nomination box for the upcoming award.
If you recall, last year was all a scandal, when Heigl stated that she hadn’t been given any Emmy-worthy material. If you also recall, this is around the time when all the Izzie-is-going-to-die rumors started. Well, Heigl doesn’t have that complaint this time around. What’s more Emmy-worthy than an emotional battle with cancer and potential death?
Of course, whether or not she might win a second time is anybody’s guess, but I think she’d be a worthy nominee.

Q&A With Shonda Rhimes on Grey’s Anatomy’s Season Finale
May 15, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
I’m sure we’re all still recuperating from last night’s season finale. And what a season finale that was! Whether you were impressed by the episode, disappointed, or simply depressed into oblivion, there’s no doubt that Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes knows how to pull at our heartstrings. So what’s going to happen next? Well, Shonda’s certainly not going to tell us, but she does answer a few of Michael Ausiello’s questions about the show and the finale.
The full interview can be read at Entertainment Weekly but here’s a few highlights:
- The last ten minutes of the season were pitched from the very beginning and were not a result of press rumors or contract negotiations.
- Shonda knows what “happens” with Izzie and George, but she’s not sharing. She’s also not telling us whether the actors themselves know.
- Shonda implies the reason we didn’t see a lot of George this season was because she didn’t want anyone to notice that he wasn’t really there in the season finale.
- Was that really the big MerDer wedding? Yes. It doesn’t look like there will be an “official” wedding between Meredith and Derek because the writers don’t envision Meredith walking down the isle. So Post-Its it is.
- They’ve not yet worked out what they’re going to do about Ellen Pompeo’s maternity leave.
- The writers are all on break until June.
- Is Jessica Capshaw back as a season regular? Contracts haven’t been signed yet, but Shonda states that she loves (looooves) Jessica and compares Callie/Arizona to Meredith/Derek in terms of romantic chemistry.
- Shonda’s really proud of the addition of Kevin McKidd and Jessica Capshaw to the show. As far as things she would’ve done differently: “That would mean I have to admit that we made some mistakes, and I’m not going to do that.” [Laughs].
So there you go, my friends. We’re not going to get the answers we really want any time soon, but we can always speculate about what’s to happen. We have a very long summer ahead of us and a lot of waiting to do.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 5 Finale Discussion
May 14, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

I hope everyone’s strapped in, for season finale night is finally here! Grey’s Anatomy concludes its fifth season tonight with its final two episodes, which are airing back-to-back on ABC. Don’t forget to tune in for both! (As if you could forget!)
I’m opening the floor to thoughts, comments and questions about the finale, so feel free to drop your thoughts into the comment section. I’ll keep the main post free of spoilers so everyone has a chance to catch up on the episode without worrying about seeing something they shouldn’t. But the comments section will be laden with spoilers, so watch for those.
Tonight we should hopefully get some answers about what’s happening with Izzie. Or, they might just leave us hanging all summer. I really hope not. Will Katherine Heigl leave? Will she survive through a medical miracle? I don’t know! And T.R. Knight’s George – what will happen to him? We should hopefully have answers to that too.
MerDer should at least get their happily ever after. Well, I’m crossing my fingers for that.
If you’ve already seen the episode, drop your opinions into the comments and we’ll see what everyone has to say!

Grey’s Anatomy 100th Episode Special: Ask Shonda Rhimes
May 11, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
If you’ve been waiting at the edge of your seat for the Shonda Rhimes edition of the 100th Episode Special Ask a Grey’s Anatomy cast/crew member, the wait is over. The head honcho herself sits down to answer fans’ most pressing questions about the show. Don’t expect her to give too much away, as we all know she hates spoilers, but a Q&A with the Exec Producer is never a bad thing.
Highlights:
- What’s your favorite of the 100 episodes? (She has a lot of them…)
- Will there be a Grey’s Anatomy movie? (Hadn’t even thought about it! Doesn’t think so. Never say never, though).
- After MerDer get married, what’s next? (She’s not going to tell us…)
- If you could have another acting legend guest star, who would it be? (She doesn’t know … we’ll see).
- The episode titles are song titles. What’s the significance? (The writers pick the songs and they sometimes pick them just because they like them, but they try to go with the theme of the episode).
- What shows do you watch when you’re not making Grey’s? (A lot of reality television – but shh, it’s a secret. Also addicted to Lost, and 30 Rock).
