Grey’s Anatomy Spoilers: Izzie, Alex, and more Izzie

Kristen from E! Online has answered a few spoilery questions about what’s going on with Izzie and what’s coming up for Izzie and how all of the Izzie stuff will affect Alex.
It’s no spoiler that Izzie is sick. We’ve known this for a while and the show has been building up her illness over the past few months. We know that the possibility stands that Izzie might die at the end of it all as a means of letting Katherine Heigl out of the contract.
We don’t know if she dies though, and no one else seems to know either. But here’s a few related spoilers…

**SPOILERS**
If you follow the spoilers, then you know that Izzie has cancer. And according to people that know more about medicine than I do, the prognosis isn’t good. What all the symptoms seem to add up to is that Izzie is suffering from malignant melanoma with brain mestasis. And this isn’t good news.
Medically speaking, it sounds like it’s goodbye to Izzie. But since this is a TV show and medical miracles do happen even outside of it, there’s always the chance that Izzie will make it out okay.
Justin Chambers told E! Online that he has no idea if Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are leaving. I’m not sure he’d tell us even if he knew. But regardless, his character is likely to see a lot of Emmy-nomination-worthy action in the upcoming episodes as Alex deals with Izzie’s illness.
In related spoiler news: It’s very likely that we’re going to get to meet Izzie’s mom in the second-to-last episode of the season. The show is currently casting for a “‘heartwarming’ trailer-trash woman in her mid-to-late 40s” and they only want stars for the role. There’s no confirmation that this woman will be Izzie’s mom, but it seems very likely given the information available.
So, to sum it all up: Izzie may or may not die, but it sounds like we should start stocking up with Kleenex either way, and we’re in for a really emotional rollercoaster as the season wraps up.

ALEX AND IZZIE ! OMG! We will know izzie’s mom? i hope so. i am a lexzie shipper, i’m just going to hope that everything be okay for tham !
My sources tell me that MerDer will get engaged by seasons end and the wedding will be between Alex and Izzie.
I agree on the tissues for coming episodes.. I may not be able to watch because my dad passed away from the same diagnosis this past summer. I was upset when they said it cause it’s so hard.
I will be looking forward to this episode and I hope it spreads awareness of this horrible disease; a disease that took my beautiful wife in January at the young age of 31. I, too, am hopeful that this will spread awareness. I lost my mom … the strongest woman I’ve ever met … to this terrible disease. It is so brutally quick. You get the diagnosis and then you are basically told that there isn’t any particular treatment that has shown any consistent chance of working. You look at the numbers … 5% make it two years … and you’re blown away that in today’s age of medical advancement, that there is just about nothing they can do with this. I hope the show sheds a beacon of light on it. It’ll be tough to watch with it being so personal to me. I am a mom of a 4 year old and a 2 year old who used to like watching the show WITH my mom…
