Grey’s Anatomy Rumors: Does Meredith Have a Half Brother?

In his latest installment of Ausiello TV, Michael Ausiello revealed a particularly fascinating tidbit: Shonda Rhimes has been secretly searching for a bi-racial male in his twenties to play a recurring role on Grey’s Anatomy. Could this be pointing to a secret half-brother for Meredith? Does the Chief know? And will Cristina be the one to find out through the journals?
So much to speculate on! But Ausiello tells us that we’ll have to wait to find out because Shonda Rhimes has put the casting on hold until next season.
But what do you think about this potential twist? Good idea? Bad idea?

I like the idea, but I also like that Meredith is finally getting along with Lexie. If it takes that long for her to get along with her brother I wont like that.
I love that idea, but I agree I hope she warms to him in a much quicker fashion. But I think it may hurt the Chief’s relationship with Mer and maybe even his wife. Or it could be what Mer is looking for to fulfill and true sense of family….Looking forward to this story!
i think it sounds cool. i can’t wait til they do this story line.
I have always felt there was so much more left to find out about the chief and Mer’s mom. I always felt they had a child together…I just thought Mer was that child. Having a bi-racial brother would be really cool.
I like this idea because then Derek can have a brother too.
I like the sounds of this. I’m defiantly all for it and I agree with several other people on here about Mer warming up to him quicker. However, I don’t think this will happen looking back at Mer’s record on warming up to people; it takes a while, she has trust issues.

whats with all the secret siblings!!?… I don’t mind the idea but if this guy is a doctor too i’m going to start to doubt the realism of the show… oh wait… bomb threats, ferry crashes, a prom in a hospital, dead men coming back to life for booty calls, dogs coming back from the dead to comfort mer dying of pnemonia… it is greys after all…
so not into this !!! I don’t want meredith to have a brother !! It’s sucks !!! the chief can’t have a child with mer’s mother .. it just can’t … just to big …
her only fammely in the serie (she allway’s said it herself) were her roommates and derek (and lexie ) so I’m hoping that she is going to have an great relationship with him!!
I hope merder relationship works out. I hope she warms up to the brother quicker and treat lexie a little better

how could Mer don’t remembering that? I mean, she had like 4 years, a 4 year old kid will remember if her mom was pregnant, it’s not possible to hide that of a curious kid…
I think the new bi-racial char, could be umm burke’s brother(if there are…)… or some hot new doctor that will try to seduce mer …

I could see Ellis and Richard having a love child, when Meredith is around 5 years old and Ellis sends her off to boarding school and Ellis is always in scrubs so no one notices when she starts getting bigger and she goes away to have the baby, she puts him up for adoption and returns two weeks later (this would all be revealed in flashbacks), because Meredith is away at boarding school, she only saw her mother after she had the baby, so she was none the wiser, that her mother was ever pregnant. Another angle you could also put a bigger twist on the story and have Ellis give birth to twins and the twins were separated at birth. (Happens and it could of happened to Ellis this could explain her early onset alzeimers because she just can’t handle putting the babies up for adoption).
