Sara Ramirez Donates $20K to Her Old School
February 27, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
In case anyone’s collecting reasons to love Sara Ramirez here’s one more: The Grey’s Anatomy actress and Tony Award winner has donated $20,000 to the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts.
Ramirez attended the school from fourth grade to senior year.
Of the donation, she stated that the school “played a huge role in where and who I am today so I would like to take this time to give a little something back.”
I’m sure the school will have no trouble finding ways to put the money to good use. Its current plans are to divide the cash between the different art departments.
It’s always great to see actors giving back to the community, particularly in areas as important as education.

Jessica Capshaw: Potential Series Regular!
February 26, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
Attention all Callie/Arizona fans, some awesome news is upon us: Jessica Capshaw is here to stay!
At least for a while longer.
Her contract has been extended for the remaining episodes of this season with an option to become a series regular come season six.
To me, that’s … how should we say it? Oh yes: Super! Some of us really, really like her.
For those of you still lingering in Bittersville over the awfulness that was the Brooke Smith-firing (which I still think sucks, no matter how many lesbians ABC throws into the mix), how do you feel about this?
And for those of you over the bitterness, are you happy? Sad? Disappointed?
Personally, I’m excited. I love Callie and I love Arizona and I’m looking forward to some more Calzona.

Grey’s Anatomy Poll: Whose departure would ruin the show?
February 26, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
With all of this talk of people leaving Grey’s I started to wonder if there were any characters I simply couldn’t live without? I think any departure will certainly change the dynamic of the show, but I’m not sure if any would necessarily ruin it for me. If I had to choose, I’d say I would most miss Bailey, Callie and Cristina. But I love all of the characters and would hate to see any of them go (even those whose storylines aren’t as strong this season).
I left Meredith out of the poll because I think her presence is sort of guaranteed, given that she’s the title character. But which of the other characters would you miss the most if they had to leave?
n
Feel free to discuss your thoughts in the comments! I figure some of you might have more than one character that you’d hate to see go (like I do). And who would you consider most expendable?
Grey’s Anatomy Rumors: Does Meredith Have a Half Brother?
February 25, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

In his latest installment of Ausiello TV, Michael Ausiello revealed a particularly fascinating tidbit: Shonda Rhimes has been secretly searching for a bi-racial male in his twenties to play a recurring role on Grey’s Anatomy. Could this be pointing to a secret half-brother for Meredith? Does the Chief know? And will Cristina be the one to find out through the journals?
So much to speculate on! But Ausiello tells us that we’ll have to wait to find out because Shonda Rhimes has put the casting on hold until next season.
But what do you think about this potential twist? Good idea? Bad idea?

Grey’s Anatomy Spoilers: MerDer Love, Izzie Gets Bad News
February 24, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

Gather ’round, for there’s new Grey’s Anatomy spoilers out in the wilds of the Internets and some of it has to do with MerDer. And MerDer spoilers are always a good thing.
But first!
Izzie spoilers. Spoilers that everyone sort of already knows. But we’ll go with it anyway…

Patrick Dempsey is NOT Leaving Grey’s Anatomy
February 24, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
ABC dropped its latest press release on the virtual table yesterday, revealing that in the next episode of Grey’s Anatomy Derek calls it quits. Some people took this to mean that Patrick Dempsey himself is exiting the show.
Everyone relax … and put down those scalpels. Patrick Dempsey isn’t going anywhere. You know why? Because the day Patrick Dempsey calls it quits for real, the show ends with him. Well, that’s my take anyway.
Regardless of how I feel about it, though, there are no (zero, nada, zippo) rumors about Dempsey wanting to leave the show any time soon. In fact, Kristin at E! Online’s sources confirm that he is “definitely not leaving the show.” And also that he “doesn’t want to leave, and they wouldn’t let him go anyway.”
See?
Breathe. It’s going to be all right.
Would you still tune in if there was no McDreamy, though? Do share. I’m the curious sort.

Grey’s Anatomy Rumors: Izzie Lives … George Dies? And Cryptic MerDer News
February 23, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
Ausiello’s latest TV show scoopfest says that the latest rumor circling the Grey’s Anatomy world is that Shonda Rhimes is planning to trick us with this whole Izzie-is-going-to-die rumor, because the one that is really going to die is … George!
Seriously? Seriously?!
That’s all the details he’s got on that particular rumor, and since everyone’s denying that Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are leaving, then we must insert a big Who Knows right about here.
But we all know how much Shonda hates spoilers and info getting leaked. So if this is already out there, chances are she’ll change her mind again.
But what would you make of this development if it really were to happen?
And then there’s this little snippet from Pete Nowalk’s latest Grey Matter blog post regarding the MerDer storyline: “it’s not going where you think.”
What does that meeeean?
Ideas? Drop them in the comments. We’ve got a long three weeks ahead of us!

Grey’s Anatomy 5.16 ‘An Honest Mistake’ Recap/Discussion
February 20, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
ABC aired the sixteenth episode of Grey’s Anatomy’s fifth season last night and I have to say I thought it was a really great episode. It had its light moments, it had its intense moments, and I thought it was a really wonderful hour of television.
The main story from last night’s episode was Derek’s struggle with his own guilt. He messed up during surgery last week and this error ultimately cost a woman her life. To go along with this theme of mistakes, we saw Izzie dealing with messed up test results, and Cristina and Hunt dealing with another surgeon’s errors.
Other storylines from the episode:
- Mark finally tells Derek about Lexie -which leads to the bloody fist fight on the bridge. I thought it was clear that Derek wasn’t really angry at Mark necessarily. Ausiello said that Derek was angry at Addison, but I think Derek was really angry at himself.
- Callie finally stops avoiding Arizona and asks her out, only to get turned down.
- Bailey is on her way to applying for that fellowship and trying desperately to gather some recommendation letters. The one that really matters – the Chief’s – isn’t what she hoped it would be.
So let’s recap:
Katherine Heigl Gets Lead Role in ‘Five Killers’
February 20, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
The rumor mill continues to spin fast and furious with regards to Katherine Heigl’s ‘confirmed’ then denied departure from Grey’s Anatomy. Shonda Rhimes did her best to quell the rumors, but few are particularly convinced. And now there’s news that the actress in question has landed a lead role alongside Ashton Kutcher in an upcoming feature film.
The film Five Killers is a thriller about a vacationing couple that grow to suspect their neighbors may be out to kill them.
Now, there’s no real reason to believe that Heigl can’t do both the show and the film since she’s done it before. But if the actress does indeed hope to pull out of TV and move full-time into the movie business, then this is a step in that direction.
For now, we can only wait for an official confirmation from ABC and Katherine Heigl herself that she is indeed leaving or indeed staying with the show. Hopefully, she’ll be able to do both things.

Grey’s Anatomy 5.16 ‘An Honest Mistake’ Spoilers
February 19, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz
Gather ’round, spoiler lovers. Ausiello’s dropped a few interesting factoids about tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy episode in his latest AA scoopfest.
Ready?
Set?
Here we go…
(!!Spoilers!!)
Ausiello tells us that the fight between Mark and Derek is indeed real and also that it might be more about misplaced anger than about Mark and Lexie being together. He tells us that Derek is really angry at Addison, but I guess since he can’t punch her, Mark’s the next best thing. Sounds like it gets pretty intense. Blood is involved.
Good thing they’re in a hospital.
