Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice Crossover Event

January 29, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

I’ve seen a few questions regarding the Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice crossover extravaganza and here’s what I’ve come to understand about what’s going down:

The storyline for the crossover begins during the February 5 episode of Private Practice (after Grey’s airs ‘Beat Your Heart Out’). According to ABC, Addison seeks Derek’s help when her brother suffers a seizure. The storyline continues the week after with the Grey’s episode ‘Before and After’. This storyline will also continue into the February 19 episodes.

That’s three weeks of crossover goodness right there.

In short: the crossover does start next week (Feb 5), but it starts with Private Practice and not Grey’s. So be sure to catch both shows.

If I missed something or if you want more info, let me know!

Check out the promo for next week, if you haven’t already. It’s going to be a fun ride.

  2. Ashley says:

yeah i want to know too. Or is it a two hour show and it is combined?

  3. Ingrid Diaz says:

Sorry for any confusion! It seems ABC is making this a 2-hour event starting with Grey’s at 9/8c and continuing into Private Practice’s usual time slot at 10/9c.

It was a little confusing because the summary for Grey’s was not listing it as a crossover, whereas the one for PP was. So it seemed the crossover wasn’t starting until PP.

Regardless, just tune in for both shows. It’s still unclear when exactly the “crossover” part begins, but I’m sure it will all be clear come Thursday. :)

The first crossover event was pure false advertisement, just to keep audience glued to the TV for more commercials. I mean, does ABC think the audience is really that stupid? The only scenes that connected both shows was Derek’s cell phone ringing at the end of Grey’s Anatomy and then Addison calling Derek almost at the end of Private Practice episode. For 2 hours I waited patiently and expected to see some action… So disappointing. Guess what? I’m not wasting my time again on Feb 12th.

  5. just to get people to watch it. F@#)(*$&(#@*%& YOU ABC! YOU SUCK!!

all you did was show a stupid preview so everyone would have to watch it because they thought that derek would go on private practice and instead you showed a really stupid episode with nothing in it and made us waste our time for 45 minutes.

WELL YOU TOTALLY SUCK AND I WILL NOT WATCH ANOTHER EPISODE OF PRIVATE PRACTICE AGAIN!

that was a total trick and a lie and you just lied about the episode so that we thought it was a “CROSSOVER.” That was not a crossover, making one phone call is not a crossover, he didn’t even show up and NOTHING HAPPENED ON THE SHOW! SO RIDICULOUS!

    never watching it again!!!!!

  1. [...] This week marks the start of the Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice crossover event. There’s still a bit of confusion (I admit I’m still a little confused lol) but ABC is stating that the event starts on Thursday at 9/8c which is Grey’s Anatomy’s slot. It’s possible that the event starts at the end of this week’s Grey’s and carries over into Private Practice, rather than starting with PP. [...]
