Grey’s Anatomy Ratings On the Rise

January 30, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

Say what you will about the Denny/Izzie storyline, Grey’s is not suffering in the ratings because of it. And that’s a very good thing! The show saw its highest season average last Thursday with 14.3 million viewers. According to reports, the show was number one among adults 18-49.

Private Practice is enjoying the benefits of its new time slot (after Grey’s). The show saw its highest ratings of the season: 9.6 million.

It’s really nice to hear good news about both shows. Let’s hope the viewers keep on tuning in. I’m sure the big crossover event won’t hurt.

Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice Crossover Event

January 29, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

I’ve seen a few questions regarding the Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice crossover extravaganza and here’s what I’ve come to understand about what’s going down:

The storyline for the crossover begins during the February 5 episode of Private Practice (after Grey’s airs ‘Beat Your Heart Out’). According to ABC, Addison seeks Derek’s help when her brother suffers a seizure. The storyline continues the week after with the Grey’s episode ‘Before and After’. This storyline will also continue into the February 19 episodes.

That’s three weeks of crossover goodness right there.

In short: the crossover does start next week (Feb 5), but it starts with Private Practice and not Grey’s. So be sure to catch both shows.

If I missed something or if you want more info, let me know!

Check out the promo for next week, if you haven’t already. It’s going to be a fun ride.

Grey’s Anatomy Info: 5.14 ‘Beat Your Heart Out’

January 29, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

There’s no new episode of Grey’s Anatomy tonight, unfortunately. So we’ve got one more week to go before 5.14 ‘Beat Your Heart Out’.

Here’s a bit of what we know about the episode:

  • Thanks to McMama, Derek has the engagement ring. Now all he needs is the perfect way to propose to Meredith.
  • Lexie’s tired of their closeted relationship, and tries to convince Mark that they come out (so to speak).
  • Dr. Dixon is baaack.
  • Bailey starts to ponder a new direction in her career.

As far as guest stars, we’re seeing two familiar faces that I mentioned before:

Some recurring characters:

  • Jessica Capshaw as Dr. Arizona Robbins
  • Melissa George as Sadie
  • Mary McDonnell as Dr. Dixon

And some others:

  • Peter Mackenzie as Warren
  • Laura Allen as Beth
  • Brandon Scott as Intern Ryan

See some photos from the episode.

ABC Greenlights Shonda Rhimes’ New Pilot: Inside the Box

January 28, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

phlphotos159148-Shonda-Rhimes3116Shonda Rhimes is not going to be bored any time soon, that’s for sure. She’s got Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice to head, and now she’ll be taking on a brand new set of fictionalized professionals: journalists. Washington D.C. journalists to be precise.

ABC has greenlit Rhimes’ Inside the Box, a brand new pilot that focuses on “an ambitious female news producer and her colleagues whose extracurriculars will be more exciting than the stories they cover.”

Something tells me the folks at ABC have a lot of faith in Rhimes’ ability to churn out hit shows, and why shouldn’t they? So far she’s 2 for 2.

I know I’m looking forward to seeing Inside the Box. Is this a premise that intrigues you? Or do you think Rhimes would be better off focusing on medical dramas?

Katherine Heigl Visits L.A. Department of Animal Care & Control

January 28, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

Katherine Heigl is well-known for her love of animals, so it comes as no surprise that she spends some of her free time visiting shelters around California. A couple of days ago, Heigl was spotted at the Los Angeles Department of Animal Care & Control.

I’m sure it was really hard for her not to take them all home! More pics after the jump.

What’s Going On With T.R. Knight’s Departure?

January 27, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

zumaredwestphotos036875-20080616-paf-f05If you’re wondering what’s going on lately with the whole T.R. Knight leaving Grey’s Anatomy deal … well, there’s still not a lot of concrete information to go on.

E!Online’s Kristin stated in her latest Spoiler Chat that nothing has yet been decided. And that when asked about it, ABC President Steve McPherson stated that “at this point” he has no reason to believe that T.R. won’t be back.

Honestly, with the amount of screen time George has seen this season, he may as well not be there at all! I mean, he had what … like, five lines last episode? He has zero storyline and it doesn’t look like he’s going to get one any time soon.

But hey, maybe they’re promising T.R. something better later on and he’ll stick around for that.

What do you think of how things are going with this? Should he stay or should he go? And do you miss him, or do you not care that George has rarely been seen on the show?

Leave your comments after the beep.

Grey’s Anatomy Poll: Mark and Callie

January 27, 2009 by Ingrid Diaz

So, I’ll admit that I’m of the camp that thinks Mark and Callie should remain friends. They have amazing chemistry together, no doubt, and they’re incredibly fun to watch, but I believe most of that comes from them being each other’s support group. While I wouldn’t ever oppose them as a couple – that might be fun too – I’m really enjoying the friendship they have at the moment.

I know there’s quite a few of you, though, that think the writers should just get the two of them together romantically, and I can understand why that is. They do have the chemistry! And Mark/Lexie and Callie/Arizona (though that one has yet to officially surface) don’t (yet?) have as many supporters.

So, now I’m curious: Where do you fall on the Mark/Callie spectrum at the moment?

Grey’s Anatomy Recap: 5.13 ‘Stairway to Heaven’

5.13 Stairway to Heaven

Written by: Mark Wilding

Directed by: Allison Liddi-Brown

Original airdate: January 22, 2009

Ellen Pompeo took the day off from doing the voice over narration for last night’s episode and passed the baton over to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who served as our otherworldly voice of wisdom.

The episode begins with Izzie brushing her teeth and of course Denny’s there watching her. We move on to Meredith who’s watching the monitors, and one can guess she’s waiting on William to crash. William, meanwhile, is still banging his head and bleeding profusely. His monitors eventually begin to beep and nurses rush to his aid. Sadie appears and asks Meredith if she’s going to check in on her patient, but Meredith pretty much tells her to go away and pretend nothing weird is going on.
