How Long is Denny Back For?

So after last night’s episode, everyone wants to know how long Denny (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) will be back on Grey’s Anatomy for. I think I can say that most of us were rather surprised by how things ended there. And according to Ausiello, things are getting even more interesting. It turns out that Denny is Izzie’s “surprising suitor that series creator Shonda Rhimes teased over the summer.”
Seriously?!
Let’s rewind a bit. Back in August, Shonda told TV Guide the following: “Izzie’s got a love story, and it’s a big one. One that I’ve been kicking around in my head for a bit, one that required me to take a huge leap of faith in myself, one that is so secret that I have not told anyone. Not the writers, not anyone.”
And now we’ve got Denny haunting Izzie and though Ausiello doesn’t seem to know how long exactly Denny will be around for, he did say at least five episodes for Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s longer-than-expected return to the show. Where is this storyline going? No one really knows, but I’m sure we’ll be tuning in to find out. Ausiello seems to think the whole Izzie brain tumor rumor (heh, that’s fun to say) is likely to happen given what we know. But sometimes what we know doesn’t mean much of anything!
How do you feel about this whole Supernatural-ish turn of events? And where do you think it’s headed?

down the tubes it where it is headed. Yet another indication that the writers have seriously lost their way and have no idea what to do with the characters. So bring old ones back and add a series of new one. I still think what is needed is new writers not new characters.
Grey’s is really taking its loyal fans and testing their loyalties. After all the pain I’ve been going through for her to be with Alex, after all the hardship, she gets haunted by DENNY? This is her new affair? It is ridiculous.
They seem to be running out of ideas. it is getting full on General Hospital now.
Oh please…who wants the same love story time and time again. So what if Denny is back? At least it keeps things interesting. And Alex is a pain in the butt, so that love story isn’t any better.
Bag the “ghost”. Enough of Denny ! This is worse than the Dallas “dream season”.
I think this season is going great and bringing Denny into Izzys life is a great move and I believe it to be believable. My husband died & kept making his presence known until I was finally OK. Then I eventually saw him after 2 years, he said “you will be alright now. I have to go now”. Even tho I begged him to stay, he told me over and over that I was alright now and he had to go. I haven’t felt his presence since. This could work for Denny to come back to help Izzy move on. Don’t judge unless you have had it happen to you and by the way I am a very normal person, raised a great family, did all the family things etc so don’t think I am nuts.They are incredible writers. That episode was great, Happy to see the sex, gay etc slowed down and in better taste. I beleive all aspects of people should be represented, be it color, religion, ancestry, gay, straight, etc. We don’t want Grey’s to be a porn show, do we? It is too good a show. This year has been great.
I think this is leading to Izzy’s exit from the show … that’s why Denny’s ghost keeps saying “I’m here for you.” I think he means he’s here to take her back with him, so whe’ll probably get diagnosed with some fatal disease or tumor or something like that.
I love this. I think I am once again in the minority when it comes to my Grey’s relationships (Gizzie, anyone?), but Shonda isn’t going to jump the shark. Not this season. There is a definite reason why Denny is back and they are going to keep us from finding out for as long as they can. It’s sweeps season, people. My first thought when Shonda said that about Izzie’s epic love story was Denny. Something was going to happen with Denny. As adorable as Alex has been recently, I don’t see the Alex/Izzie relationship lasting. I really don’t.
Denny is “here” for Izzie. It’s ominous. Perhaps it isn’t the tumor, as has been repeatedly stated that she wasn’t going to have one, but either way it doesn’t bode well that no one else can see Denny but her. I believe in love beyond the grave and in ghosts. I also believe in Shonda and her purposes. Trust her people. This is going somewhere big.
This was one of the worst episodes ever.
I can’t believe they have the interns doing procedures on each other (gross, wacky, and do they EVER actually have work to do?),
Denny is yummy to look at, but the way they are portraying his return is just silly (if Izzy has a brain tumor, then maybe it will all make sense, but in the meantime it is just…..),

how they dealt with Erica (and her story line) YIKES,
there is more but why bother!
It felt like they had to re-cut the episode to account for Erica being dropped. It also felt more like a General Hospital episode than Grey’s Anatomy.
Christina is the most (perhaps only) interesting part of this show these days. I hope Meredith’s new friend doesn’t take the story line away from Christina.
There have been some powerful episodes this year, but this one was just awful.
Denny & Izzie…together again! I can’t see her with anyone else. I can’t wait for next week’s episode!
Denny & Izzie – ridiculous – I believe that this is the worst season ever! This whole episode was ridiculous.
As far as the interns doing procedures on each other – that is insane and in real life they would be thrown out of the hospital and no other hospital would take them! The writers are making them crazy!
Weren’t we told that the Grey’s Anatomy of old was coming back? It was what kept me watching — this episode alone is enough to make me quit!
I don’t like Meredith’s new friend – do we need another character? The writer’s can’t seem to come up with a solid storyline for any of the regular characters!
I don’t care how shoddy the episodes are, I am just happy to see Denny again. Alex is too moody and pouty for Izzy, they just don’t work for me. You can have your McDreamy and McSteamy, it is Denny Duquette for me!
Get over it people, it is what it is…TV. It’s not SUPPOSED to be real. I got over that a long time ago when it became apparent that this was going to be the most ridiculously dramatized hospital in history. Because face it, this show hasn’t had a shred of reality to it in many seasons. Why make a big deal out of it now?
Even though it will be a little painful watching Izzy make love to an apparation, it’ll be good to finally explore that chemistry that made us all fall in love with the Denny/Izzy pair to begin with. We’ll finally get to see how hot they could have been…and THAT could never be a bad thing in my book.
This is ridiculous!!! where are they going. I love Jeffrey Dean Morgan but his character died. It seems like the writters of the show are out of ideas and coming back with old ones. Just when I thought season 5 was getting interesting, after an unbelievably boring season 4, they bring back a ghost!
I hope this brain tumor thing is real, cuz at least there would be a good reason for this whole crazy thing.
I have season 1-2-3 on dvd and I can watch these episodes over and over again. I hope season 5 will go somewhere interesting because if it doesn’t, I think it will be the end of Grey’s anatomy.
I do feel like the writers are grasping at straws, and it’s kind of going like ER with main characters been cut and a whole new round coming in. If they get rid of Izzy, I think that will be the point at which I stop watching. Too many main characters have been cut. Let’s review: Addison, Burke, Hahn, (not to mention that Joe and Walter have all but disappeared). Personally, I never liked the whole Denny dying part in the first place, but one can’t dwell on the past. I think it needs to be a brain tumor and they operate and Denny goes away again. There is enough story there without killing someone.
This show has been nothing but unrealistic drama from day one, which is why I love it. The drama, the humor, the sex craved, love “stuck” characters. I believe there IS a big story which will explain why Denny is involved. It was awesome when they did it with Meredith. There’s no way to make sure EVERY storyline will keep everyone happy including me, but overall it keeps me entertained enough to stick with it forever!
All I keep thinking is–it ticked Alex off plenty to be ditched by Izzie for an almost dead Denny, how much more when it’s an ALL THE WAY dead Denny.
I really enjoyed the episode, which is why I’m holding out hope that even though this looks way crazy dumb, it could still be good. But…. it doesn’t give me a good feeling.
I LOVED the fact that Denny is back, although i am still confused as of how. I love that a television show can get this much emotion out of people. I really didn’t think he was real until the end of the episode , when she was able to touch him, and he was there. Evere since, i have been running ideas in my head of how this could be possible and eventhough it’s a sad possibility a brain tumor is very likely. I hope he sticks around for a while!!
Though I love JDM and was happy to see Denny return, this whole story seems pretty ridiculous to me. Makes the show remind me of the soaps that my grandmother watched. Especially the preview that made it appear that she would be having sex…with a ghost. *sigh* I was starting to have faith again. Poor Derek is never really alone with Meredith and now this.
Dump Denny!!!! It is totally ridiculous.

As much as I loved Denny and Izzie together, I think this is a bit much.. Denny needs to move on to an afterlife or something; Izzie was doing fine with Alex until he showed up again.
Well I am a little torn. Denny is hot and it is kinda fun to somewhat see what could of been but lets hope it doesn’t get too stupid. I am not really liking the new intern. She just doesn’t seem to fit, or I do not feel comfortable watching her interact. I have to agree that we hope Christina’s character doesn’t get shoved in the corner. I am so amazed at Sandra oh’s talent. I just love watching her, and only she could play christina. For the most part I feel the old grey’s is coming back
The show jumped the shark with this past Thursday’s episode.
I don’t watch Ghost Whisperer – I LMAO during the movie Ghost – with Patrick Swayze and I certainly didn’t start watching this show because it was about the Supernatural. I hate the Denny storyline!
And the interns practicing on themselves is absurd! Geez! when Grey at all were interns, they were operating on real live patients – as FIRST year interns – are the all the patients used up?
I guess the writers can’t come up with any more storylines -I would say this is the beginning of the end but I think last season was the beginning of the end…..does that make this the middle of the end???

LOL! I have to agree with the posts saying that Grey’s has been closely following General Hospital’s storylines… Being fans of both shows I have seen very similar story lines lately… which makes me wonder if Shonda Rimes needs to find other sources of inspiration

I would like to see the show get back to its original roots.. I loved the seasons 1 and 2!!! Lets get back to that!!!!!!
cummon guys be alittle more romantic!! I love Grey’s anatomy, the show is about the people in the OR not JUSt the surgery, i think this is a welcome turn of events. I like where its headed. I really hope they don’t kick off KH but who knows. But its a love story, i dont think its cool that she makes out with Denny while shes being exclusive with alex, but honestly, i know how i feel about my fiance, and I dont think i would ever be able to date again. so shes brave, and beautifull! Im excited about this.
It’s TV and not real, anything can happen. So, I”m hoping somehow Denny returns from the dead and he and Izzy live “Happily Ever After”.
They should have Izzie’s character die and join Denny in the afterworld so that they can have their own little spin-off… That way, I don’t have to watch them banter back and forth for 1/4 of the show.

Izzie has been a whack job ever since Denny left. I mean seriously her and George!?! Horrible idea from the start. I don’t see the point of Erica, what did her presence accomplish? I LOVE Kerev, I wanted to see him with Addison though. He and Izzie don’t fit, anymore.

I hve never previously been a G.A fan, but since that storyline between Izzy & Denny I have been a little addicted. I sort of stopped viewing once that story had finished but am majorly excited about his return!! =D I really hope this goes somewhere interesting, & I can’t wait to see!
This is one of the most beautiful love storys I’ve ever watched! & was PERFECTLY executed by the cast (Jeffrey & Katherine) I only hope that i will lucky enough to find such a love

Shonda should find a way to bring Denny back for good and the couple should get married.
denny and izzie they match so well that i get this spasm of excitement just by seeing them hanging out talking! i really hope they will marry each other or at least stay as a couple in the end i just can’t stand the fact that denny’s dying, it really hurts and i don’t think i can handle that fact! please change the plot and make a happy ending between them…
