Rumor: Sara Ramirez Departing After Episode 15?

There’s a rumor going around that Sara Ramirez will also be departing Grey’s Anatomy after episode 15 or 16. This rumor was started at the Television Without Pity forums and is circulating:
I’ve just spoken with a contact at AfterEllen.com and she is confirming that Brooke Smith is not the only one being let go. Apparently Sara Ramirez will be exiting at roughly episode 15 or 16 and they’re jockeying for an interview with her. According to what I’ve been told, Melissa George has been brought in for Mark’s character because the ABC brass wanted a ‘name’ actor for him and liked Melissa from her stint on Alias. The head honchos are the ones who lured Melissa George into the show and asked Rhimes to create a backstory for her that would connect her with Meredith (or another established character) to ‘ground her’ with roots from the beginning.
Again, this is just a rumor and there’s no confirmation of this anywhere. Though a friend of a friend who’s friend knows another friend saw a MySpace post in which someone said that Sara might be heading off to Broadway. Saw this in the comments at Ask Ausiello.
Definitely something to be taken with a grain of salt. But still something to keep an eye on. If they get rid of Sara Ramirez my brain will explode.
From the sounds of Shonda Rhimes’ statement, though, it doesn’t sound like there’s plans for Callie to go anywhere. Then again, as we’ve learned today, that obviously doesn’t say much.

Good she was the reason I watched the show in the first place. Brooke was a good second reason. If they both go then I am out. I will have a hard time continuing to watch with the garbage about Brooke.
The Callie/Erica story line was the first time in 40 years I found a story and relationship on TV that I could totally relate to…. Then the cowards at ABC put their tail between their legs and go hide.
Rumors are really gossip! But that is want people want to read about now don’t they.
Callie has been of no use to the show since her and George ended. They should’ve kept them together. Callie does NOT belong with Mark. If she goes, no big loss to me.
Callie is an awesome character! Why get rid of the old and bring in new characters when you can just do new stuff with old characters?! People are invested to these characters that have a backstory. So do something with her character! She is a great actress and totally deserves a glowing storyline. Let her get prego with Marks baby…. SOMETHING.
I hope that’s not true! She’s the reason I started watching Grey’s. She’s an amazing actress. And I’m not a Lesbian so it wasn’t because of the hahn/torres thing. MMkay. haha But whatever, I’m sure she does wanna get back to broadway. She’s an amazing singer. Does she have an album?
I am mad that Brooke Smith is leaving the show. I just watched the show because of her. Now I will no longer watch it. Shame on ABC. BRING ERICA HAHN BACK
Shhhh!!! Don’t tell everyone….But ABC and Grey’s don’t like us lesbians. That see leaves!!!! We are weak and not worth much. We can be replaced and FAST.
Sara’s character is amazing. She is one of the reasons I watch the show. Anyone who thinks she is not an asset should keep their mouths shut!!!
