5.01 “Dream A Little Dream of Me”

The fifth season begins pretty much where the fourth season left off, with Meredith standing in her candlelit floor plan, waiting for Derek to return. Meredith is narrating about fairytales, “the stuff of dreams.” The problem with fairytales, as far as Meredith is concerned is that “they don’t come true,” and it’s all the other stories, the nightmarish ones, that do.

We then see a worried Cristina standing next to a worried Chief at the hospital. Meredith bursts through the doors asking what happened and we learn that Derek was in an accident. Bailey and Mark are trying to save Derek’s life but to no avail. Derek dies. Meredith cries hysterically.

And then we’re happy to learn that it was all a dream. Well, phew. Because we really all thought that they’d kill off McDreamy in the first fifty seconds of the show.

Michael Ausiello has revealed that Melissa George (whom you might recognize from Alias) is in final negotiations to join the cast of Grey’s Anatomy as an open-minded intern. Indeed, her character is “being groomed as a potential love interest for one of Grey’s other two burgeoning bis, Callie or Erica.”

Ausiello further reveals that George’s character was originally intended to be a patient at Seattle Grace, but Shonda Rhimes fell head over heels and decided to stretch out her role.

Well, well. Rhimes isn’t giving Callica much chance to get going before spicing things up! What do you think of this latest development?

And they’re sure adding a lot of interns.

TV Guide also caught up with Private Practice’s Audra McDonald and asked her about the second season of the show. Apparently there will great medical stories and lots of sex!

TV Guide caught up with Chandra Wilson at the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night and asked her a bit about what would be going on with her character, Miranda Bailey, in the fifth season of Grey’s Anatomy.

Well, the first episode of season five has just finished. What did everyone think? Was it everything you’d been waiting for? A total disappointment? Maybe a little of both?

The day is finally here! After many months of waiting, agonizing, wondering, pondering and worrying about what might come to pass in season five, the wait is over! Well, almost over; we still have to wait a few more hours. But we’re pros at the waiting thing, so it’s not too much of a hassle.

I always feel giddy whenever I see Chandra Wilson anywhere. There’s just something about her that makes me happy. She looked absolutely wonderful at the Emmys; elegant and beautiful. I can’t wait to have her – and the rest of the cast of Grey’s Anatomy – back on my TV screen week after week.

I was disappointed that Grey’s Anatomy didn’t win at the Emmys. It would’ve been nice to see Sandra Oh or Chandra Wilson go home with the statue, but there’s always next year, and maybe Katherine Heigl will like her storyline enough this year to stay in the running.

All the same, here’s some pictures of the lovely Sandra Oh at the Emmys on Sunday night.
