‘Private Practice’ Romance Heats Up
August 28, 2008 by Ingrid Diaz
Actual fires aside, it looks like there’s a different sort of heat warming up the set of Private Practice next season. Rumor has it that things between Addison and Gilmore Girls’ David Sutcliffe will be getting serious.
According to sources, Christopher Officer Kevin will be “courting the pretty Addison in the second season of Private Practice.”
Good news? Bad news? Was anyone counting on some Pete/Addison action next season? Well, you never know. Romances come and go but drama is forever.
Speaking of romances that come and go, is there anyone out there that was hoping Addison would end up with Derek? Anyone? Bueller? Just curious…

‘Private Practice’ Set Damaged by Fire
August 24, 2008 by Ingrid Diaz
ABC has reported that a fire broke around 1:30am last night at the set where Private Practice is filmed. Thankfully, no one was injured.
The fire has been deemed as ‘electrical’ and started on Stage 1 and according to a security guard, spread on to damage the “office-type set” from the show.
The extent of the damage is currently unknown, though it will likely make its way to the public soon. Let’s hope this doesn’t hurt the show! Mostly glad that no one was hurt.

Katherine Heigl Donates $8K at Hot in Hollywood Fundraiser
August 21, 2008 by Ingrid Diaz
Hosted by the talented and lovely America Ferarra (Ugly Betty), the Hot in Hollwood Fundraiser for HIV AIDS was packed with all matter of recognizable celebrity, including Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight.
“I had so much fun hosting Hot In Hollywood 3! It is such a great space to make a fool out of my self! It was professional chaos!” exclaimed America Ferrara.
Celebrities banned together for the Aids Healthcare Foundation and Real Medicine Foundation to sing and perform and pretty much have a huge blast while supporting a very important cause.
Katherine Heigl donated $8,000 before the night was done.
It sounds like the event was a huge success.
Here’s to Hot In Hollywood 4.

Sandra Oh Is Converting the Grey’s Cast to Veganism
August 21, 2008 by Ingrid Diaz
Sandra Oh is having much success in convincing some of her Grey’s Anatomy cast members to switch to more animal-friendly menus. Her plan included inviting some of the actors to dine with her at Truly Vegan, a Hollywood hotspot for the vegan crowd.
The actors were immediately shocked to find that they not ony liked the food, but also loved it. Something Oh was decidedly happy about as she’d been trying to get her cast members to drop meat from their diets.
“Ellen Pompeo has gone to Truly Vegan half a dozen times since trying the food,” a source says of Oh’s co-star. And McDreamy may also have a hand in making animal-friendly eating sexy. “Patrick Dempsey enjoyed the chocolate vegan cake.”
Chocolate vegan cake. That sounds pretty good, actually.

“Grey’s Anatomy” Draws Objections in Italy
August 21, 2008 by Ingrid Diaz
The National Federation of Medical Colleges in Italy has put forth an official protest asking for a ban on medicine themed television shows such as Grey’s Anatomy and ER because they are full of medical inaccuracies.
“These programs are teaching viewers inaccurate views on medicine,” Annalisa Silvestro president of the NFMC said. “They are spreading misinformation.”
The Order of Medical Professionals in Rome agreed with the NFMC.
While I can understand why they would be concerned about the dangers of spreading medical misinformation, banning television shows intended for entertainment purposes sounds a bit extreme. There’s got to be other alternatives, such as the spreading of correct information.
Currently, there’s no word that these objections have made any sort of difference in terms of getting the programs banned.
It’d be sad to see an entire country deprived of good television shows simply because they aren’t one-hundred percent accurate. Perhaps the thing to do is to spread the awareness that these shows are meant as entertainment and should not be your main source of medical information.

Still No Wedding Plans for T.R. Knight
August 21, 2008 by Ingrid Diaz
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi tied the knot in California this past weekend (congrats!) but their special day did nothing to inspire T.R. Knight to change his mind about doing the same.
“I’m happy for them,” Knight said at the AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s Hot in Hollywood Awards Saturday at L.A. nightclub Avalon, adding, “I’m very happy that we can talk about this subject—very, very happy.”
He’s even happier that he and boyfriend Mark Cornelsen celebrated their eight month anniversary recently. But no talk of the baby adoption rumor.
More importantly, did he manage to reveal anything worthwhile about season five of Grey’s Anatomy? Nope. Not. A. Thing. And I can see why…
“They’ll kill me,” he said. “You don’t understand. There’s a room they take us into.”
I’d be scared too.

Meredith and Derek: Happily Ever After?
August 20, 2008 by Ingrid Diaz
The August 25-31st issue of TV Guide is chock-full of everything you want to know, my fellow Grey’s Anatomy addicts, and will be worth picking up during your next outing. They’ve got a juicy exclusive on our favorite show and this time it’s all about MerDer.
Quoted within the article are none other than Shonda Rhimes, Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo.
So what’s to come for our favorite couple?
Shonda says, “They’re going to live the moments that come after happily-ever-after. They could end up being a couple who lives together and works together, and that’s not always so easy.”
Easy would be no fun on a television drama, certainly, though I’m sure most MerDer fans wouldn’t oppose a little bit of easy once in a while, given all of the back and forth we’ve endured over the years.
Ellen Pompeo stated that the couple is “going to do it their way, which is one step forward, two steps back. Meredith is still showing huge signs of fear and commitment phobia.”
Ellen Pompeo and Justin Chambers at Obama Fundraiser
August 18, 2008 by Ingrid Diaz

I’d mentioned that Ellen Pompeo and Justin Chambers would be attending a fundraiser sponsored by the Gay and Lesbian Leadership Council of the Democratic Committe (GLLC) in Seattle, Washingon this past weekend to support Senator Obama’s campaign. I couldn’t be there unfortunately, but Grey’s Anatomy News reader Karen did get to go and she was gracious enough to send in her first person account to share with us here. Thanks, Karen!!
Her story, after the jump.
