Grey’s Anatomy Rumor: Shonda Rhimes Might Kill Off Izzie Stevens

The Interwebs are abuzz today with news that Shonda Rhimes is actually considering killing off Katherine Heigl’s character in Grey’s Anatomy. I know some of you want to move on from this whole Emmy-comments mess, but it doesn’t look like the news wants to die down quite yet.
At first I thought it was just another cheesy tabloid rumor, but E! Online is reporting this particular story so it might hold some water after all. According to an E! Online source, “Shonda is pissed. They’re thinking of killing her off. They want Izzie dead.”
Sounds a bit melodramatic. But the source also said, “It’s not good there.” I’m taking that to mean on the set of Grey’s Anatomy. And that I can certainly believe.
But for the rest, I’d take it with a grain of salt. Shonda Rhimes’ rep said, “I haven’t heard anything about that.” And neither Katherine Heigl’s reps nor ABC are commenting on what – at this point – is nothing but a rumor. While it’s entirely possible that Shonda Rhimes is upset to the point of wanting to get rid of the actress and her character altogether, it’s just as likely that things are being spun out of proportion.
We’ll just have to wait and see on this one. I, for one, hope it’s not true. Or that at least nothing comes of it if it is. What do you guys think?

I hope they don’t kill off Izzie!! Though I did hear another rumor about a week ago saying that Izzie was going to be in Siberia for duration of the season, but I’m not sure on the validity of that statement. I’m just hoping Katherine will learn some humility out of this, stop rubbing cast members the wrong way and stay on the show! Seriously!
Well this may all be moot if the actors strike next month. The writer’s strike was a definitely benefit to GA as they came back with the strongest shows of the season.
I would hate to see Izzie killed off as much as I am not a fan of the character she is an integral part of the dynamic.
I hope that it’s just a rumor! If shonda kill off izzie the show loose a vital part..she’s amazing..the character..the actress..and she is right when she said that her material was not very good..common..the way that gizzie end was stupid..lol but yeah she sould keep that for herself..as i said before..nobody is perfect! And she was not the only one to criticize shonda..ellen pompeo also criticised the creator of GA for all the stupid stuff that break up merder and then go back together..and then break up again! Izzie is now the owner of the clinic and the thing with alex might be somenthing..killing izzie is just stupid! Izzie rocks =P
FRANKLY, who cares if Izzie goes to Siberia. We all saw what happened when Isaiac Washington was causing ‘chaos’ on the set. Kathryn Heigl does not want to be there – they should let her go.
Well…. we love Katheryn since Roswell, but let’s be honest, the whole Izzie Stevens, character sucks. I went down hill every time since that 2-episodes-liying-on-the-bathroom floor fiasco. Come on! Katheryn Rocks! Izzie Sucks! hope to see this wonderfull actreess out of the hook of this lame role.
And… about last season…well, you all watched it, it wasn’t only Izzie, the WHOLE season sucked big time! they’re all bitter and uninteresting, SERIOUSLY Shonda… did you run out of ideas??
I think that what Katherine said about the writers was not the best thing to go public about, and hopefully she will learn her lesson. But, I think that in previous seasons Izzie has had a strong storyline, while other characters really didn’t. So now I think that Izzie’s storyline is not as strong, other characters/actors are getting their chance to shine. I think that Katherine should wait for her turn again, when the other characters finish out the latest event in their storyline. I love Izzie, and killing her off would be a terrible idea. I believe the show won’t do so well without her. CAN’T WAIT UNTIL SEASON 5!!!

NOOO IZZIE CAN’T GET KILLED OFF! i think the show, as great as it is, would lose a lot of viewers if katherine heigl was kicked off the show.
i think if izzie gets killed off alot of people will be pissed. Isnt this a little elementary if i hit u u hit me back, i really hope they blow this water under the bridge bcuz it wud suck to see izzie gone, i mean im a fan of the show and wouldnt stop watching none-the-less but ive fallen in love with all the characters (callie and chandra are my fav’s) and it definately would affect the dynamic of the show.
If shonda does this thts when it becomes personal and she shouldnt let w/e animosity they have affect/ come between the work that they produce. With all that said i dont think shonda will do that but then again if katherine wants out of her contract i know this time around they wont be begging her to stay.
I have two things to say..
One. I think it’s terrible what kh said about her storyline. Can’t we all just forget it and focus on the show rather than makeibg people angry?
And two. I can’t belive you guys! It you didn’t notice, were on a greys anatomy news website. If you don’t like the show anymore then why are you still here? If you do still like it, then why are you bashing every little peice of greys that still isn’t effected?

I would absolutely hate to see Izzie “killed off”! I am a HUGE fan of the show and there has already been a huge gap in the show with “Burke and Addison” gone. I do not agree with Washington’s comments (some things should not be said outloud if that is how you feel) but I do not think that eliminating his character was a good idea. Dr. Burke was a wonderful and viable character on the show and he is a character I truly miss; along with Addison (I love her!).
With that said, I hope and pray that Izzie does not leave the show. I love her character and it will never be the same with her gone. (It is already a little strange with the other 2 gone)
Oh. My. God. Izzie Stevens is a wonderful addition to Grey’s Anatomy. I do believe that Katherine Heigel’s remarks during the Emmy nominations were less than called for, but when is everyone going to kiss and make- up?!?!? I would love to say I would stop watching Grey’s, but I’ve said that before. It’s an addiction.
Shonda….I have to say that you have such a talented mind. You are a great writter. I love the show and the story lines.
i hope that its not truth because the only reason i am watching Grey’s anatomy is because of that character ! but i heard that they going to killing off by give Izzy a brain tumor and that she’ll see visions of her deceased fiance i hope that wont happen because the only likable character in that show
In the last couple of episodes Denny has been saying he is there for Izzy. I think he means he is there because she is going to come with him. No person of the flesh can touch a ghost.
I think we can all see where the plot is going now… because of what Denny said about being there for Izzie. Let’s face it… goodbye Iz.
IF IZZIE IS KILLED OFF THE SHOW, I KNOW I WILL STOP WATCHING THE SHOW BECAUSE I FIRST SRATED WATCHING GREY’S ANATOMY BECAUSE OF KATHERINE HEIGL. SHE IS ONE OF THE BEST ON THE SHOW; SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN NAMED GREY INSTEAD OF THE START OF THE SHOW…………I DON’T CARE WHAT HER NAME IS. AND FOR THAT SILLY WRITER TO WANT TO KILL IZZIE OFF THE SHOW I CAN TELL YOU NOW IT WILL HURT THE SHOW BY FAR.
Kill Izzie and fire Katherine. Her character is annoyingly stupid. And her I am the greatest most pure best actress crap is just that – crap. She caused the Isiah Washington thing to “never die” and now it is karma! Die Izzie die! Go away Katherine; go away fast. She makes me change the channel. I will not Tivo the show until she is gone.
I think George was enough. I have cancer third battle and I can and to to relate to more characters like her. Strong and willing to fight really life or acting I find it encouraging. The war very inportant to deal with that as well. Money is a really issue in hospital situations. Please keep Izzie!!!!!!
