Grey’s Anatomy Scoop: Rose Isn’t Going Away Quietly

We’ve been discussing the future of Meredith and Derek come season five of Grey’s Anatomy and many of you are anxious about what’s to come for the happy McCouple. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like MerDer is going to have it quite as easy as some of you are hoping for.
TV Guide emailed me today to share this exclusive scoop regarding Rose’s reaction to the whole MerDer relationship. Though there is no sign that Rose will be the one getting pregnant (I still say that’s going to be Callie), it seems the character isn’t going away quietly. According to sources on the Grey’s Anatomy set, Rose is going to have “at least one emotional outburst. Rose is not her usual composed self with Derek.”
Aaaand though actress Lauren Stamile was only supposed to appear in the two-hour season premiere, there’s rumors that the character’s arc is being extended “just a tiny bit longer.”
Oy. Guess a happy start to the new and improved MerDer was too much to ask for.

Shonda Rhimes specifically mentioned on one of the podcasts that Rose isn’t pregnant.
Plus, it would seem unrealistic for there not to be closure between Rose and McDreamy, so I’m ok with Rose being back for a couple more episodes.

ok its good that there not getting rid of her just like that theres gonna be some closure. Just let her have her moment say her piece and leave for good. but didnt she and meredith have a little ‘i give up moment’ in the season 4 finale.
OMG 2 hour season premeire im soo looking forward to that i wish it was longer cuz i just cant get enough of greys. I hope the commercials are short which i doubt cuz abc makes some serious dough with advertising during this show.
hey look, they never said that they weren’t going to be together, they never said that they weren’t so it’s probaly just part of the way shonda wants them to work out their problems…
but i hate the fact she is there, i really think that all the characters are all in their way dark, and she is bright and shiny, she just doesn’t fit in. also… at the end, when meredith asked her to hand her the calibers, mer was like, you need to go tell derek, and then rose was like, you need to tell him that, ISNT THAT LIEK I GIVE UP HE LOVES YOU! grr, this kind of is weird, but i have faith in shonda! i just want merder together for good
poor Rose. What happened to her really sucks, but seriously, I just want her out of the way! Hopefully it won’t cause too much drama or unsettlement between MerDer.
I would just as soon be rid of Rose for good. I need Mer/Der.

Well isn’t that really how grey’s is? There are two people like Meredith and Derek who deserve to be together and happy but they can’t be, at least not yet. There has to be so kind of drama etc. They did it with Christina and Burke, and with George and Izzie. I actually really hope they are doing it with Callie and Mark also because I really hope that Callie is pregnant and that her thing with Erica will dissolve and she and Mark will try to make things work!. Here’s hoping that someone will get their happy ending!!
this should be fairly interesting because uasually rose is the one who is all quiet and content. I bet mer will be freaked!
Honestly though, I would be so mad if there was too much drama involving the whole Rose ordeal because Shonda has already promised a semi-happy, or atleast a better relationship for Meredith and Derek. So much has already happened to the couple, a pregnancy or a huge disruption would just be the same drama that they have always had. Hopefully Rose will confront Derek, get some closure, switch to Mercy West and be done with it!
Either that or derek will breakup with rose, giving Meredith some reassurance that their relationship with be stable.
I am a huge fan of Meredith and Derrick but after all this is a drama – and a ‘happy’ couple with no problems is a ‘boring’ couple. I want them to stay together but a little Rose stalking wouldn’t go amiss. Add some drama. Not too scary but a little and maybe we could see Meredith with a backbone! and a strong psyche!
I totally get what you’re saying Jan, but think about it- it’s Meredith and Derek. They don’t need the added drama, the drama will find them!
But I completely agree with Meredith coming back stronger and more self-assured, that would be nice.

i just wish mer/der would be together and NOT have anyproblems, i know thats a far out reach bc these characters are both very complicated. hopefully rose isn’t too much of a pain.
