Sandra Oh’s New Film: Blindness

July 5, 2008 by Ingrid Diaz

Sandra Oh has been a little busier than simply supporting SAG and speaking at theatre festivals, she’s actually been filming during her break from Grey’s Anatomy. Sandra Oh stars in Blindness, the latest film from Academy Award Nominated director, Fernando Meirelles. The film is based on the Nobel Prize winning novel by Jose Saramago, and also stars Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Danny Glover, and a plethora of other names and faces you’re bound to know and love.

The plot centers around an epidemic of blindness that affects a city and the conditions and consequences this has on the people involved. Sandra Oh will be playing the Minister of Health who orders that the infected people be quarantined.

Now comes the big question: read the book first or wait for the movie?

Check out the trailer for the film below. I’m really looking forward to watching this and not simply because Sandra Oh is in it. Though, of course, that’s a big bonus!

josé saramago, the nobel prize winner, is portuguese, and so am i…so i´m pretty proud of my country right now! ;)

  2. Definately, read the book first! This is my favourite book of José Saramago and you must read the book in order to understand the deepness of the drama.

    Best wishes from Portugal,

Moura Aveirense (a “Grey’s Anatomy” fan)
