Grey’s Anatomy Discussion 4.13 “Pieces of My Heart”

Mic Here goes the discussion post for tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy episode, “Pieces of My Heart.” We’ve got the return of Addison, we’ve got Elizabeth Reaser back as Ava, and a slew of other great guest stars including Amy Madigan, Clea Duvall, Lauren Stamile, Kathleen Rose Perkins, and more.

So, last week’s episode got some mixed reviews. Some of you loved it, some of you didn’t like it at all. Is Grey’s Anatomy back on the ball or is it still lacking?

I think this was a much better episode than last week! Personally, I feel that they have to bring Addison back more often as she definitely adds a strong dynamic to the show. As for the relationship between George and Izzy…. somethings got to change! I think it is absolutely horrible that George is abandoning his friends for his new intern buddies. Meredith’s sister is ruining everything! I think the audience would like it better if some things returned back to normal- the regulars living in Meredith’s home and the work place moving back to what it used to be. All in all I still love the show but I find myself moving more towards Private Practice opposed to Greys as there are too many changes occurring- some that I fear are for the worse…

Well, this episode just shows what a huge mistake it was to take Addison off the Grey’s Anatomy. She’s such an amazing character that brings all the other characters together, she is the missing piece on the show right now!!!

She MUST be back on GA!!!

I think this episode has been the best all season, and I definately agree Addison should come back. Derek grasping her hand was definately as sign of things to come, and next weeks preview of “I will stay if you want me to” is a cliffhanger. If shonda is getting them back together, she only has three more episodes to do so. Things will start going faster… Who do you think the kiss is between? I think Callie and Haun? Haun Gay? I don’t like that, I was hoping she would be with Mcsteamy… Christina needs a new man as well!!!

I totally agree… being an avid Greys fan since the inception of the show… Addison rocks!
She does had a certain level of excitment to Greys.
The biggest thing.. I am so wholeheartedly sick and tired of seeing this pull in, push out between Derrick and Merridith. These two belong together .. not apart. I want them to get back to gether with some drama to Rose. Get back to gether and stay together and have the very first “Greys Baby” ( oh I forgot about Miranda..)
I want to believe in true love that is does exist.. even only on Television)

I dislike Rose and I think that Derrik is sooo weak.

My most favourite part was when Addison told Merridith at the end… to fight for Derrick!!

I was so happy Addy was back… i love her on GA she does such a great job making sure everyone is ok. I love it when she hugged Merideth… and at the end when she told Meredith to fight for Derek. Finially someone told Meredith to fight for him. I hate Rose so much she is not right for derek. I hope Meredith takes the addvice addy gave her. Fight for him Girl!!!!!

Well I am so happy the show is back and that it has picked up right where I love it the most.

I think that Hauh is in love with Callie and thats why she wouldnt date Mark.

Cant wait till thrusday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love love love Grey’s and was very excited to have it come back after such a long break, but I have been disappointed in the last 2 episodes. I am a huge Derick and Meredith fan and I feel like they are losing their chemistry. They don’t have their witty banter and constant flirting anymore. I hope it comes back next week when Meredith can’t stop thinking about his tongue..haha

Hi! I’m Marty and this is the first time that I’m writing here.
And about the episode… for me that was the best episode until now in season 4. I am a huge fan of Grey’s and I think that Shonda made a big mistake when she moved Addison. The character is just perfect and I think that the hospital need that drama and funny situations around Addie. Everybody loves her! Izzie, Alex, Mark, Callie, Baley and the Chief… I miss her very much and I hope that she will come back.
George is acting a little strange about Izzie and the new interns( I just hate them I can’t accept new characters in this hospital (as Rose)). In one moment George loves Izzie and in the second he is away with the interns and almost not talking to her. So I loved the moment when he said that he’s searching for her at the parties. And about Izzie’s patient, this is very sad and is not anybody’s mistake. These things are all clear, but what about Alex and Ava? I think that after the last surgery Alex will want to keep the baby. I don’t know, I think that Alex and Addison are perfect, but as we can see there is almost no chance of starting a reletionship. So even if Addie don’t return I will finish my fanfic about her and Alex. Now I have 100 pages and I’m very proud of it :) The only problem is that I must translate it in english. I’m from Bulgaria and my english is not very good but I will try… and btw sorry about the mistakes (blush).
I can’t wait until frieday (here the time zone is different) I am very happy that I can write here.

I thought Addison added the spark the show needed. The interns are nameless and perhaps that because the writers don’t want us to know them as anything but the group that George hangs out with, which is fine. The Izzie with George is so awkward. Get another story line going. I’d like to see more of Der and Rose going on and see if Meredith actually fights for Der. The writing needs to be more exciting.

OMG OMG im a really BIG fan of kate walsh and greys anaomt and just the fact that she was on made the show perfect!! every single scene was interesting!! it was awesome!<3

Callie and Erika were just acting like a couple of girlfriends, not gayfriends. Callie was having fun until Addison planted a seed that it could be more than that which Callie is obviously not ready for. It gave a hint that Erika could be wanting more by the way she was looking at Callie at the bar, but who knows. Instead of just jumping up to dance with McDreamy to show Addison she wasn’t interested in Erika that way, she could have asked her point blank if there was anything that Addison saw that she didn’t. Maybe Addison never had a close friend to have that much fun with..

Did anyone else notice the news clipping with Burke on it at the end?? I’m truly hoping that the powers that be have wised up and will be bringing Burke back

i thought this weeks episode was amazing. i loved having back addy!! my favourite story was the Izzie one. that was soo emotional and im glad that FIGHTER izzie is back! Katherine heigl did a great job this week.

We need more of the old friend times. Derek and Meredith need to have the old chemistry show again. I would like to see more of the Derek and Rose relationship and watch as he shuts her out for Meredith.

I loved last nights show a lot better, but I have waited a long time Meredith and Derek to finally get together for at least a season, it has be dragging on and leaving us hanging too long. I know they will never be a perfect couple but please don’t bring in another person to come between them.

Ioved this episode and also last weeks. If you watch carefully, you can see where this is going. Meredeth is going to therepy, showing now how much she cares for Derek and Addie gave her the push. Notice the handshake between Mer & Der after the surgery, he was rubbing her hand. He is only with Rose because Mer wouldnt comitt and he needed to get on with his life, he was lonley, Mer spent all her time with friends and wouldnt share with him, so he turned to Rose who would. So it is all coming together. Just don’t make us wait too long and lose your fanbase. Get Mer & Der together, in love and a happy couple. We need that. We need the original characters although I love Lexie. I would like to see Alex become whole like Meredeth is trying to do. Addie won’t leave Private Practice (why should she) It is a hit. But she could show uo in Seattle every so often to stir things up. Good job Shonda I think you are bringing thse characters together, Everyone should realize the new interns are just secondary characters. Our origionals had to move on to Residents.

i loved this episode so much. they need to bring addison back for good cuz shes such an essential character to the show. shes a peacekeeper and just adds so much emotion and good feeling to the cast.

as for merder, theyre gonna get back together eventually… i mean, they have to. they’re perfect for each other and its so painfully clear that as hard as they try, theyre never ever going to get over each other. i think derek should leave rose immediately and realize that meredith is trying so hard to change for him. shes being the bigger person by doing surgery’s with him and saying “it was a pleasure working with you tonight” even though inside she was probably dying… i dont know i just think that shes matured and derek needs to realize that they belong together, and accept that

I thought that this was an amazing episode. I was sooooo happy that Addison came back even though it was just for a little while. the only part I really didnt like was Eva. She was lying to Alex to get his attention and all. I think he’s gotten over her and she is just pittiful. I really also liked the clinical trial thing I really want it to lead to the “reunion” of MerDer. I really dont like Rose. My favorite scene of this was when Addison was talking about Rose and she was right beside her. It was HILAIRIOUS!!!! I just loved this episode. Keep up the good Work, Shonda Rhimes (I think thats how you spell it.)

Just so happy to be back to new GA episodes. This episode was a reminder of why I fell in love with this show in the first place. It’s real. There’s not always a happy ending within an hour (or a day). With each episode we get a little closer to resolution which is totally realistic. I am loving watching the process of Der/Mer coming back together. I am loving the process of Alex becomng an excellent doctor and an excellent human being. I’m even loving the process of watching Hahn and Callie and McSteamy’s characters develop. We can’t predict the outcome for any of them and that’s why I come back to watch week after week… because you don’t get all the answers right away. Episodes like this are a clear example of why the writers are so valuable to the success of this show.

Hi! GOd, i’m so happy that grey’s anatomy is back! This episode was great. I miss addison in the show..and shonda did a great job with her return..she talk with every single character and did a resume about their situation..it was pretty good :) Merder i mean..it’s complicated..i really dont think that rose is good for derek..meredith willy need to do something! The elevator scene was outstanding lol hilarious x) hahn and callie? my god..strange but can be..we need to wait to see..i love suspense..because we just cant wait for the next episode! The Ava Alex thing..common..lying about pregnacy? the sneek peak was right..here comes trouble! lol This can’t be good really! Izzie and George..well i must tell that i’m a gizzie fan and i think shonda make a huge mistake in their storyline..i mean these have all to be a hit..and then..after all the fire they’re not even hang out together..i mean it’s stupid! Izzie rocks..but she can rock even more..george hanging out with interns it’s natural..the lexie thing..i dont know..maybe! I’m looking forward to see the next episode to see what is gonna come :) GA rocks *

HI marty! yeah..i was surprised too..but in one of the last scenes..izzie go get the labs of rebecca and she says “so my patient is not pregnant?” ;)

Thank you very much Sofia! I thought that this labs were for the patient that was positive to HIV. I am happy! There is still a little chance for Alex and Addison :D

Everything is starting to come together for the season finale….Mer is getting STRONGER and w/ the shrinks help will be able to understand what love is about and working out problems, not running away. from them….Mer/Der really great together & would like to see some real fire between them..Hahn???? I’d like to see Alex w/ Lexie….LOVE Mc Steamy–would like to see more of him….Callie and him are just using each other right now[callie cause she does not want Hahn to think she is “interested” in her]…Never liked Rebecca/Ava actually sad if she is trying to get Alex back by saying she is pregnant—I wonder if she has tumor and thinks she is pregnant. George - LET him GROW-UP which looks like he is trying. Did Love Addie return - -each character reveling there feelings to her… to bad her show was renewed..do miss her on Grey’s–great sence of humor ….Christine???? BUT__ once again waiting for that CHEMESTRY of Mer/Der to come around full steam……OH–would love to see Chief’s wife on LOVED her.

This was the best episode for season 4 so far :) Addy coming back brought the whole cast alive! :) i especially loved the elevator scene with derek and his 3 women :) that was tremendously funny.
i also loved that callie was beginning to realize she was too close for comfort with hahn, and my gosh! i hate that AVA girl! i want alex and izzie back! :)
