Fan Discussion: Grey’s Anatomy, House, or Both?

I recently got into a discussion with a friend regarding hospital shows and she said that most of her friends who like Grey’s Anatomy hate House and vice versa. I’ve never personally watched House but a lot of friends have been recommending it, so I’ll likely be catching up on it soon.
But it led me to wonder if it was a widespread thing that people who like one show generally dislike the other. Do you watch House? And if so do you find yourself preferring one show over the other or do some of you love both equally?
Hi, i’m sofia from portugal. I like very much of your site cause i’m a huge fan of grey’s anatomy, thansk for all the great posts =D Well..i also see House and in my opinion is completely different. I like House, it’s a excellent medical drama and the character is outstanding. But i love grey’s anatomy. It’s different..i mean grey’s have all the stuff.. excellent drama, great characters..stories..relantionships..it’s more global..more fun..we are always expecting fot the next episode..to see what will happen next. House is more individual and focused on one character. Very good indeed..but greys anatomy is better in my opinion.

I personally love both shows. Though they’re both medical dramas they are completly different. I don’t think you can even compare them.
House is an ass and a guy you love to hate. He is a drug addict and all around uncaring guy. He loves tourturing his team.
Grey’s Anatomy is all about the relationships and how the characters deal with their personal lives and being a surgeon. Like I said, the shows just can’t be compared.
yeah i never saw it either but i have seen bits and pieces and i just hate House…mostly because it goes up against Grey’s in a lot of things I guess im not really sure why I hate it so much…maybe its because I just don’t like Hugh…

I’m huge fan of Grey’s Anatomy. I’ve seen 4 or 5 episodes of House and I hated it. It’s always the same story in each episode : someone comes, he’s very sick and no one knows what he has. They spend 30 minutes doing tests on him, by the time House has found out but he doesn’t want to tell the others… but at the last minute he tells them and they save the guy ….
they may have the same setting, which is in a hospital, but they differ very much in the plot and story lines.
i love both shows, it tells us that those who work in the medical field, doctors, nurses, medical students, interns, deans, etc., are human also. they go through normal experiences also.
I used to watch House but got tired of the fact that the main character never changed and never grew. Also, the “seizures” of every single patient who came on the got so contrived it was ridiculous. I think it started off good, but has not been able to keep up for the long haul, as Grey’s has. I love Grey’s more the more I watch it. With House, it was the opposite.

I have watched both shows. I like House. I LOVE Grey’s. I have an emotional attachment to the characters in Grey’s that I don’t have for the characters of House.
My roommate is a huge Grey’s Anatomy AND House fan. He kept telling me I would love them, so he made me watch an episode of each. I wasn’t really impressed, but then I saw Episode 2 of GA & was hooked. As for House… I didn’t like it much. However, since he owns the DVD’s & was always watching them, I soon came to like it too. The shows are quite different, like everyone said, and House focuses on the medicine much more. Dr. House is so witty–it’s hilarious!! I do like Grey’s more, but House has a little place in my heart too.
I saw about 10-15 episodes of House, but this show didn’t involve me so I decided to pass it up. IMO House is too medical. I mean it concentrate mainly on medical cases not doctors private life (like on GA which I love)

Personally I love both shows even though they are very different. House is more based on the medical stuff and Grey’s Anatomy on the characters. I’m addicted to both shows.

I can relate to Grey’s. The characters are multi-faceted. It’s easy to watch and watch again. House is mainly a “head” show – for analyticals, whereas Grey’s is a feeling/kinesthetic show ,that makes me think, but not analyize. These are two completely different shows with the only thing in common is a hospital setting.

I think both shows are absolutely fantastic!!! I haven’t missed a show on either series.
I love both equally! They’re both amazing, and I look forward each week to my Grey’s and House fixes with equal excitement.
House owns Grey’s anyday. Mindless sex gets old after a while.
We’re talking apples to oranges here. Grey’s is a much more well rounded show… House focuses way more on the medical aspects and the unique relationships of its main characters. I love Grey’s and House both… definately prefer Grey’s though
These shows are my top favorite shows although they are completely different except for the medical thing…
