Grey’s Anatomy 4.06 “Kung Fu Fighting” Recap & Screencaps
Last night’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy was thoroughly enjoyable. I think I laughed throughout the entire thing.
We start out with a psychotheraphy session between Cristina and Meredith. Cristina tells Meredith that she has too many things (Read: issues). What? Meredith? Issues? Never!

Last week we learned that the Chief was tired of living in the hotel, so this week it looks like a solution was found. Richard is now living in McDreamy-land. Aww.

We learn that McDreamy’s been fishing at 3am (when does that man sleep?) and the Chief says that a man who does that is a man in pain over a woman. The Chief knows all about that kind of pain. He suggests that what they need is a Gentlemen’s Evening.
In the on-call room, Izzie wakes George up and tells him that they should start having sex. George is all like “Weeee!” only more subtly so. They agree to a perfect evening of “hot, perfect sex.” Also, take note: perfect sex requires shaved legs.
Elsewhere we learn that it’s Erica Hahn’s first day, and the Chief introduces her to McDreamy.

Hahn thinks McDreamy and McSteamy are “ridiculously attractive” and asks the Chief if he hires on looks alone. *snicker* I love Hahn. So much.
Speaking of the ridiculously attractive men, the McTwosome are walking down the stairs discussing the mysterious Gentlemen’s Evening the Chief has planned. Mark thinks the evening is certain to include strippers. McDreamy doesn’t think so. But starts to feel doubtful.

Also, take note. That the word “Hi” now translates into “let’s have a quickie in the on-call room later.” At least when spoken between Meredith and McDreamy.
But it’s time to receive today’s patients, and Cristina is on a mission to land herself some cardio surgeries.

She gets her hopes up over a patient who fell 12,000 ft and landed in shrubbery. Multiple surgeries - woot! Also, we’re introduced to two other patients who are fighting over a wedding contest. The first to let go of the dress they’re holding, loses, and the winner gets $100,000 for their wedding. Neither girl wants to lose. And despite their injuries, they’re being stubborn.
Everyone is excited about the parachut-failure guy, who’s wide awake and talking. They’re all flabbergasted by this fact, but attribute it to shock.
Meanwhile, Callie and Alex are dealing with the wedding crazies. Callie is particularly annoyed by the blonde who’s rather bitchy and insane. But she’s more annoyed by the fact that George is the intern assigned to one of the patients. McSteamy is there to save the day, though. He tells Callie it’s all about making the interns miserable. Callie is into it.
Izzie’s patient is a bird watcher with a heart problem. He tells her he can’t wait to get through the surgery so he can go find a very rare bird that they thought was extinct but actually isn’t. Izzie is moved by this because Izzie is Izzie.
Cristina interrupts his moving bird story because Cristina wants to trade the parachute guy and his potential 8 billion surgeries for the “low low price” of Izzie’s cardio guy. Their conversation involves some euphemisms about cardio being Burke but also Hahn and flirting … and I just started wondering if they were fighting about Burke, cardio surgeries, or Hahn. Ah well. This promises to be a very intersting season.

Anyway, the parachute guy? His 8 billion surgeries? Not happening. The guy fell 12,000ft and is perfectly fine. Many people are disappointed by this. Except, maybe, the parachute guy.

Somewhere, in an a Secret Closet, Lexie is hiding away. Alex finds her and encourages her to come with him instead of hiding in the closet. I guess she finds this sexy.
And over in wedding dress hell, McSteamy makes George hold the dress while the blond girl goes to have her shoulder popped in. Poor George.

Surgery time! Hahn is teaching Izzie about noodles. Or… arteries. Or something. Unfortunately, it turns out the bird watching guy is allergic to the anesthesia and he’s got a clogged artery. Bad news. Looks like they can’t perform the surgery.

They give the guy the bad news: he’s going to die. Looks like he won’t get to see his bird after all.
Elsewhere, George is still holding on to the dress. He is very much hating his life.

And the blond girl, it turns out, will need surgery. So George is going to have to hold that dress a bit longer.
Meanwhile, Cristina gets a hold of the video of the guy falling 12,000ft and Alex, Mer and her rush off to watch it. Izzie walks in and reveals that the surgery she had couldn’t be performed on account of the guy being allergic to anesthesia. Cristina looks like she’s got some solutions.
And indeed she does!
She rushes off to find Hahn and tell her. Hahn listens and agrees to Cristina’s procedure. They run it by the patient. He’s very much not into the idea of being awake for 6 hours while they operate on his chest. But Izzie mentions the bird he wanted to find and the guy thinks about it, and agrees.
Hahn asks Izzie to scrub in. Cristina objects but is shut down. She’s gonna have to try harder than that!
McDreamy is still trying to get to the bottom of Gentleman’s Evening but the Chief is being very cryptic.
So McDreamy and McSteamy chase after Dr. Hahn in an attempt to get her to find out what the Chief has in store. Dr. Hahn is just like, “Are you guys a couple?” Which had me cracking up for like 5 minutes. Did I mention I love Hahn?
Izzie goes to George for a pep talk about her awake open-heart surgery, and also to push back their “perfect evening”. George is all rah-rah-rah! And Izzie gets her confidence back. Go Izzie!
In the Chief’s office, the Chief begins to yell at Hahn for not running the surgery by him. Hahn basically calls him a male chauvinist and wipes the floor with him. It was rather humorous and entertaining to watch. I love Hahn.
Time for the quickie in the on-call room! They’re cute together.

Izzie is in the operating room, trying to put herself in the shoes of the man who’s about to have his chest opened. I love that Izzie thinks like that.
George is still holding on to the dress. And the girl is talking about how much this wedding means to her mom and that it’s the reason she’s putting herself through this. George looks touched by this. And then the girl collapses and George has to let go of the dress in order to catch her. Turns out she had some serious injuries.

The awake open-heart surgery is underway. The guy is panicky but Izzie is doing her best to calm him.
The blonde girl got out of surgery okay but all she cares about is who won the contest. She doesn’t even care that the other girl had to go into surgery and almost died. Callie snaps and tells her that she has to let go.
I guess she takes that advice to heart, even if the other girl doesn’t.
At the awake, open-heart surgery, the guy becomes really agitated by the fact that people are watching him. Things start to look dire but Izzie saves the day by helping him to imagine that the people watching him are actually birds. Go Izzie.
Callie and George have a sweet moment, wherein Callie tells George that she’s letting go, that she has to. Thank God.
The brunette girl who collapsed with serious injuries ends up winning the contest and the $100,000. Yay.
The parachute guy gets some words of love and wisdom from Meredith of all people. But she does know something about facing death and living to see another day.
And, finally, we have Gentlemen’s Evening. Only, it’s not quite so gentlemanly…

Heh heh… go Hahn.
Back at Seattle Grace, Lexie asks Alex out. Alex basically tells her that he just does sex.
And the surgeons are busy being really hardcore in their Gentlemen’s/woman’s Evening:

Aaaand, Izzie and George’s perfect evening doesn’t go quite so perfect because Izzie starts crying due to exhaustion. It was cute. Poor George, though.

And elsewhere, Meredith and Cristina are in bed together … well, not like that. Just literally in bed together. And Meredith is still talking about her issues and how she can’t let McDreamy go because she loves those moments after the sex when time stops. Cristina listens because that’s what friends do.
And of course, Meredith opens the door to catch Alex and Lexie about to get it on. Heh.
And that concludes this epsidoe.
Tune in next week for episode 4.07 “Physical Attraction … Chemical Reaction.”

Izzie used to be my favorite, and now I think she is a mean, nasty self-absorbed twit. She will step on anyone to get what she wants, which does not bug me so much. It’s just that everyone keeps talking about how nice she is while she is doing it. Whatever. FF thru every scene with her in it is why I bought TiVo

I love george and izzie. I think you see a totally new dynamic with them this season. Izzie seems to be unsure of herself now that she isn’t an intern, but when it comes to George and fighting for him you begin to see how sure of herself she can be. I personally am enjoying watching the two of them.

Ok. I laughed through this whole eppisode. i just couldnt stop laughing. my favroite part was when Izzie and George were just going to go to sleep and George asks if she only shaved one leg and Izzie breaks down again. I also couldnt stop laughing at the fact that Lexie and Alex hooked up. Nobody in my house got it except me. they were all just like whats so funny about that? (Their not big Grey’s fans) and I think that Meredith should just tell Derrek that she loves him too because she obviously does.

i think that at the end where alex said he was “hung up on another girl” he meant izzie, not rebecca/ava. anyone agree? also, i dont george-izzie. it seems like they are already getting sick of each other, or maybe like they’re not even a couple to begin with. i just dont know but i loved this episode!

I am really sad that the writing is getting worse on Grey’s. The first couple seasons were awesome but this one seems to dissapoint a lot.

Hello,
Does anyone know what type of bag it was that Alex was wearing as he was being asked out by Lexie? My boyfriend really liked it and I would love to surprise him with it for Christmas. It was like an over the shoulder leather bag that was beige/tan. Thanks!
