Patrick Dempsey On Grey’s Without Isaiah Washington

by Ingrid Diaz on September 6th, 2007

ImageIf any of you were wondering how life on the Grey’s set is going without Isaiah, Patrick Dempsey provides some insight:

“It’s a lot lighter, people are having more fun.The energy and the adjustments make a big difference,” he says, referring to the departure of Isaiah Washington after an on-set altercation between the stars last season.Definitely pumped to be back at Seattle Grace, he declares, “I’m going to go save some lives again!”

Well “fun” seems to be the general theme of season 4. I’m all for it. Bring on the fun!

I’m all for getting back to fun. I’m a bit tired though of IW becoming the scapegoat for all of the problems with season 3. OK, they had problems with him as an actor - but was he the one who wrote the script or suggested the story lines? Of course not. So while the actors themselves might feel more free now that the controversy is past, it will take the writers to really turn around the non-IW-related mistakes of last season to create a watchable show again.

I am a huge fan of the show, but I think removing Isaiah Washington was a mistake. He adds a depth to the acting that no one else on the show can offer. His character is also very solid int eh midst of some very flaky people. He also deserves another chance. He has done everything he can to right his wrong. If Don Imus get a radio show again, IW must rejoin Grey’s. I miss him already.
