amy-brennemanSome female casting news is finally emerging from the Top Secret Lair of Grey’s Anatomy Spinoff Planning: Amy Brenneman (she of Judging Amy) and Merrin Dungey (she of Alias) have been cast.

Little is known about the roles, but if other rumors are true, then the ladies will have the choice of playing either a fertility specialist or a psychiatrist. Place your votes now as to which actress should be in what role. I vote Francie … er … I mean, Merrin Dungey in the fertility specialist role. I see Amy Brenneman as more of the psychologist type.

I LOOOOOVE Amy Brennen and am so glad she is back around. As to who she should play, she has the very soft girly side to be a fertility spec. and she has that super smart hard edge to be the psych. It is really how they see the character development. Amy would be a perfect best friend to Addison like Sandra Oh and Pompea. I hope the charater of Amy uses her smart savy way that she seems best suited for. I do not understand why Ellen Pompea is such a big deal she is the least interesting character. Her slutty side is believable but her dark deep intellectual style is way out of her range. She is BOOOORING.

I do Not get Merrin Dungay, Does the series have to start off with tokenism. Why can it not be politically correct to develope a character. I do not see her as either of the chosen Dr. Parts, I see her as way to edgy. Try taking so time to find the perfect minority actor, Is she the only one available?

  3. Rita Dawson says:

I disagree - Merrin Dungey is a very well rounded actress. She can play comedy and drama and add levity when time permits. I’m a huge fan - more so of her than Amy Breneman.

  4. KC says:

I agree- Merrin Dungey is great! I loved her in Alias and King of Queens. I cannot wait for this show to start. Toss Amy - she’s a downer.

  5. Jessica says:

I totally agree! Merrin Dungey is Awesome for this part! She was great in Alias, King of Queens, Summerland, and Malcom in the Middle! Plus, she seems totally nice. I think she will Definately get along with the cast and crew well.

  6. Brian says:

I usually don’t weigh in on these blogs, but, on Summerland, she proved she could play a great, smart business woman- isn’t that what doctors are? She and Amy Brenneman will make a great team.

  7. Lisa says:

Amy Brenneman is an excellent choice for the show. It is good to see her back after Judging Amy. She would be great in either role and I hope to see her character developed and we will be seeing her get in on some good story lines.

  8. Bev says:

I absolutely loved Amy in Judging Amy and was extremely distraught when the show was cancelled. It has a WONDERFUL cast and was one of the best TV series that I have ever followed (along with Family Ties and ER). I am THRILLED, THRILLED, THRILLED to see her back on a series in any part!!!!!

  9. Robin Newberger says:

I surrender Merrin Dungey was great in the first episode, and Amy Brennen whom I adore came off as more neurotic then the way I thought she would be developed. I still don’t think the spinnoff will make it. And Ellen Pompea should have drown.

  10. Claire says:

Wow. Ellen Pompeo is boring. That is a first. She may not be the best actress on the show but to me she’s the most interesting. I can imagine the show going on without any of the others, well maybe not Derek, but not her. I love her she’s the greatest
