How Denny Returns to Grey’s Anatomy

E! Online’s Kristin Veitch has revealed some vague but intriguing details of how the lovely Denny Duquette returns to our TV screens.

Here’s what she has thusfar revealed…

According to inside sources, here’s what I can tell you about Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s return:

Denny does not appear in a flashback.

Denny does not appear in a dream.

It is Denny and not something kooky like his twin.

Denny is not the only one we see.

And for the record, the scene in which Denny appears will completely blow your mind. (I’m still picking up the pieces.)

Let the speculation begin!

After seeing Mer fall into the cold, dark water in the final seconds of this week’s show, I now wonder if she sees Denny (and others) in a near-death experience. Do we know how soon Denny will appear in an episode?

I am worried about Mer. I hope Shonda doesn’t get too dark and twisty on us. Her blog at greyswriters.com is scary to read this week.

I think Izzie dies and Denny returns to be reunited with her. I heard a main character dies in one of the next 2 episodes.

Laura, you are right. I read Shonda’s blog and it is WAY scary. The part about not following TV rules and putting people in the water for a reason…scary stuff! What if Izzie dies and is reunited with Denny…nah, too Soap Opera-y…Ohhh…maybe Denny appears to Izzy and helps her save the guy under the car…you know, gives her back her confidence…Seriously, This is going to be the slowest week ever…

I’m thinking…what if this season (and the last episode of the 2nd season) has just been a dream of Meredith’s? She “wakes up” because she almost dies in the water…just a thought.

Where did you here that one of the main character dies? that would be a total shock. I hope none of the main charictors dies. I think merdith almost dies and so she see’s denny and that McDreamy will think that she tries to commit suicide because in the beginning of that episode she tries to drown in the bath tub!!!!

I don’t know who dies… I hope not Meredith! Without Meredith, there really would be no show. Hello, Mer’s VO’s??? But Shonda’s blog was scary, and with Mer in the water…

I think in the next epi (part 2) Derek will somehow rescue Mer (knight in shinning whatever, anyone?) and then in the epi after that, Mer will “see” him while she’s in a coma in the hospital. She’ll probably also see Dylan and Doc, as they have also died. And maybe George’s dad. Then, hopefully, she gets better. Keeping my fingers crossed!

The Show is getting good. I hope that none of the main characters die. Denny might come back as a man on life support. They brought him back with some experiment. I know that is crazy. Maybe maybe not.

What if derek dies trying to save mer????? I dont know …but the way people are talking really does worry me cuz it sounds like something i am not going to be happy about. If mer dies the show will be over.i wish there was a way to find out more dirt. Denny coming back really makes me curious and happy, but all this talk bout a main character dying……this feels like the whole thing about a main character being shot….and it ended up being burke…..so…..UGH!!!!!!! I dont know what to think but thursday is not getting here fast enough.

Otherwise, maybe it’s a smaller role, like sexy Mcsteamy…I dunno, did you know that the role of addison was only going to last for like… 5 episodes, maybe they’ll take her.

it’s not likly they’ll take meredith, what would they change it to? Bambi’s anatomy?

And let me say… if its Izzy they’re thinkin’ about… oh all hell will break loose on my end.

I was watching a repeat of Greys Anatomy on Lifetime and at the end of that episode McDreamy said he had a thing for the “ferry boats ” and that merdith remembered, so maybe the episodes connect.

Dylan was the bomb expert that was blown up in season two, in the two-part show that first aired after the Super Bowl. He was placed by Kyle Chandler, who’s now on Friday Night Lights.

I LOVED his character on Grey’s. His scenes with Meredith were SO intense. I was very disappointed when they blew him up.

I think something bad is going to happen to Izzie I got a bad feeling when she went down there. I also think the little blonde girl is Izzies daughter (just a thought). Denny will more than likely appear in a vision- of course they are going to tell you thats not the case even if it is.

I have no idea what this is about, I have a feeling izzie is going to die, because it said somewhere that one of the interns was going to be off the show.(and its not mer so people need to stop worrying) but then again, she will never get to meet her daughter, and no the little blonde girl looks about 6, if i recall izzie said that her daughter was 10. so those are just my thoughts, but i think izzie has a pretty unfinished life if they just kill her off now, but i have nooo ideaaa.

Meredith being offed would be awful. Also…I know someone was/is supposed to be pregnant. Does Addison being pregnant at some point take care of that? Just wondering what others thought. No one I know is as observant as I am, nor do they look for dirt online. :)

I don’t think that Izzie will die. I really can’t imagine anyone dying. Maybe Mer does for a minute then returns to life?? But it’s interesting that Shepard and Mer has this whole “I have a thing for ferry boats” metaphor.

I’ve been tossing the idea that this is all a dream thing for the last 24 hours…I’ve been rewatching the Ferry episode looking for clues too…but I just don’t know…You know what’s really bothering me though? The pregnant woman and her connection to Alex. The way she looks at him and keeps touching him. I really think she knows him, but who could she be. And is she the mother of the little girl. Oh yeah…and I think if they kill off a main character, it will be George…(just throwing that out there)

Mer will probably be unconcious and they will try to do CPR. then they will think she is dead but Shepered will say shes not dead and try to “save” her and she will see Denny and others then come back to life. And no one is leaving the show just the intern program, so someone will probably just be promoted. probably Izzy or Alex cause they are the only ones not “with ” there bosses.

The latest is someone will die both this week and next week but this week’s death will not last. I think Mere will die and return this week and have a vision of Denny while dead. Next week Mere’s Mom will die but Mere will not be as upset because she will know that there is a heaven. Keep in mind that this may also cause friction as Derek will likely be operating on Ellis’ brain.

Ooh, Carol, I think you might be right…….that seems to be the most plausible so far. Derek saves Meredith from drowning, but can’t save her mom, with whom she has totally major issues with? That’s bound to create drama that could last indefinitely……but I don’t know where the Denny angle works in, unless it’s when Meredith dies/comes back to life.

Alright, deep breath: To answer a question, Mer can’t swim back up, remember?? She told Derek last season that she can’t swim. I think that Mer’s mom dying is beliveable, but mainly because I can think of millions of reasons that I don’t want it to be anyone else. :) As far as it being Izzy, I don’t think that is likely. According to spoilerfix.com, they are looking to cast a little girl in the age range that her daughter would be…it wouldn’t really make sense to do that if she won’t be here next season. I might buy the whole “seeing Denny” and him helping her save that man, I think that would be sweet. And if you look, that isn’t gas that was leaking from under the car Izzy was next to, it was blood. I think they were trying to make it look a little more dramatic. (I know there is a chance that I am wrong, but I looked at it a few times to see.) I don’t think that the death is going to be the chief mainly because that story line has already been visited slightly when he had the anxiety attack and everyone thought that he was having a heart attack and was going to die. I do think that Mer will be one of the “deaths” in that she will need to be brought back to life, by her knight in shining whatever of course. You know, as soon as he said that, I knew that it would mean something later. Lol, I am sorry to trail on for so long, I have just been all kinds of stressing about what was going to happen this week and I stumbled upon this site. It’s nice to be able to vent! I have been watching from day one, my hubby too, but he won’t let me overthink it and bounce theories these off him. He says it’s silly because it’s not real. (Which we alllllll know is just blasphemy!) I can just say that Thursday cannot come soon enough!!!!!

Well the person dying this week could in fact be the person that Izzy is trying to save. Or the creator of greys anatomy is saying that somone will die but not mentioning that they come back to life moments later ,”merdith”!!

I am going crazy but the whole thing about mer dieing and then coming back to life makes sense. Sometimes i wish i was in one of those writers rooms so i could yell the crap out of them for making me go crazy. I think GA should come on 5 nights a week or just everyday. But i have faith i belive[i’m trying to] that mer and der and izzy will all be okay. But i’m curious in those previews who does Cristina ask about mer. i’m going crazy 1 more day because today is Wensday and tommorow it is Thursday. i can’t wait!!!!!

This is a reply to Megan: Thats a cool theory, but the woman who hooked up with Alex was much older, too old to be having a baby I’d say. (Of course women are having them into their 60s now so I guess anything is possible) I think that she’s jsut feeling a connection because he saved her life…and lets face it, hes a hottie! Izzy can’t die!!!! First of all, I like her too much! Second, and more logically, they are casting a little girl around the age that her daughter would be for next season. I don’t think that would add that in if she was never going to get to meet her.

Nah Kristin Vine said it was totally unexpected so it probably isn’t Burke. It could be George, right? I’m not entirely shure how it could be callie or george or addison or alex or christina (because they are all that the hospital, but I guess it could be possible)
that leaves Sheppard Merideth Izzy and maybe alex and george if they go back. Bailey went back to the hospital.
hmmm. maybe mer’s mother dies…. but she isn’t a main character.

So who would be the most unexpected person to die. With tons of people thinking it’s mer and some thinking it’s izzy…who could shonda kill off permanently without us hating her forever? ths is driving me insane

I didn’t pick up on that sneaky comment by Vine, I’m usually better at that! I might have said most of this earlier, but this is my theory. Based on what Shonda said in her blog, (that 2 people will die, 1 for good and one will come back) I think that Mer will die and be brought back, and I think that her mom will die for good. That makes sense, I mean I know that her mom isn’t a main oerson per-say. However, her death would add greatly to Mer’s “dark and twisty” nature because of all the unresolved issues between those two. Honestly, there are a couple people that they could axe that I wouln’t miss: McSteamy,he’s a hottie, but he really, REALLY bugs me with that attitude…oh yeah, and I don’t want him and Izzy together so he should kick it. Then there’s Addison, she’s just a witch… not to mention a big BIG ho. Lastly, the chief. I love him, really I do, but since he is “stepping down” it wouldn’t be all that tragic if it was him, I’ve been expecting him to be leaving for a while and I have made my peace with it.
Well, thats about it! I don’t think I’m going to make it though. I have it worse than most of yall…I can’t be glued to my tv the second it airs because I have to work tomorrow. I have resigned myself to having to watch it the next day online. Though I can’t say I’m not tempted to slip in a portable tv tomorrow night…

Grrr…the only person I want to see go is Meredith’s mom (because she sounds too much like my own and I can’t wish death on my own mom…but I digress). Although McSteamy drives me insane sometimes, i still think he is interesting and I have grown to love Addison’s character so they can’t die. I don’t think the Chief is stepping down just yet…I think he’s gonna milk it, so I don’t see him going either. I just hope it’s Dr Grey Sr….anyone else would drive me crazy! Hey I just realized, It’s almost Thursday!!!! :)

i’m going crazy i am sitting her in typing class supposedly typing but all your theories are making me more anxious because i live in the eastern part of the U.S. and i have 14 hours and counting. I can’t stand being in school and freaken out about mer. What about Denny i have decided to try to get my mind off of grey in the water by thinking about how denny’s supposed to come back? I really am confused. What if something happens to derek when he is saving mer? wat if he is going to die? OMG i am freaken out but if you guys have ideas i’d like to know because all mines are just getting wierder and i don’t like my ideas.Sorry for typing so much.

Argh! You’re all scaring me, and in fact, I stopped reading half way down!

I think that a ‘main’ character will die, but I do think it will be Meredith’s mum - and not one of our beloved interns… heaven forbid!

And I’m not sure about this whole Denny returning thing… I don’t think he will come back as a vision or something like that, because Kristin said that’s not how it happens. However, there could be some bluffing! ‘Denny is not the only one we see…’ - that is weird. I can’t seriously imagine that Shonda will bring Doc back!

And if she kills off Addie or Derek (Mer goes without saying) then I will seriously stop watching… of course, I won’t really.

Maybe they’re saying someone will die - and they won’t - it’ll be a cliffhanger, like last weeks, which I’m sure we’re going to get anyway, seeing as it’s a three parter. I can’t wait for it to be over - I want Grey’sland to be back to normal!

I agree that Mer can’t be the one that dies because she is THE main character in the show….i mean she narrates almost every episode except like 2. I personally think its gonna be Mer’s mother that bites the dust, and i say good ridance to bad rubbish…i hated her the moment she became lucid and told Mer that she was just ordinary and cray like that. I didn;t care if she did have alzhimers..i wanted to slap her for being a self righteous pig..look whos talking..at least she didn;t have kids that she didn;t bother to raise properly. And i haven;t the foggiest idea how Denny is gonna come back…and it said nto a dream or a flashback….i’m thinking it must be a figment of Izzies imagination..something is gonna happen to that ferry cuz they spent too much time showing us the gas dripping on the car to do nothing about it. Probably izzie is gonna have some sort of breakdown or somethin and then she see’s all the ppl that ahve dies while she was working there…i dunno. Or maybe he just faked his death…but that was a real crappy ass thing to do..and then i wouldn’t want him with izzies then. Ohh and i have to say, i think Addison and Alex make a hot couple!! Leave Dr. McSteamy single..he’s mine!!!

This is how I see next weeks episode going.
1.You know how Meredith sees Denny and the bomb dude from last years ’superbowl’ time episode….well obviously she is in the dead stage, and next week she will be in that stage for a bit in the show.
2. You know how Meredith’s mom Ellis is suppose to die next week, and how she became lucid on part 1 of 3 last week and her and Mer got in a fight and Mer went back to talk to her and she wasn’t lucid anymore…..well Her mom is going to die next week and Mer will see her, and her and her mom will talk and fix things up and her mom will tell her to go back that she has alot waiting for her etc etc..

That is how I see next week happening…
Makes sense right? At least that way, Mer and her mom will be able to go back and ‘fix’ the argument they had.

We have to wait a weekd, I hate waiting..

I just watched it. I’m completly flipping out and wont sleep. I prey L Gallagher is right. If she dies I will never watch this show ever agine.

Just a side note Grey’s Anatomy is the study of anatomy which was named after the first Doctor to study human anatomy. Dr.Grey. Ironiclly thats Mer’s name also. So the show might not be centered around her.

The book was Gray’s Anatomy, and the title of the show is just a play on that. It’s not irony that Meredith is Meredith GREY. That was deliberate. She IS the heart of the show!

well today is Sunday and i have 5 days until ga comes on. I think mer will live because she is still under her proper body temp and she can’t be pronounced dead until she reaches her reg. body temp. i read in a spoiler that she will be saved and i think she will live but i don’t know who will be the second one to die. i don’t think it will be mer’s mom because mer and her still have fix things up between them so mer could move on. Also izzy and mcsteamy are on[spoiler i read]. i don’t believe mer will die i am suprisingly very calm or maybe its cause i just got up a half hour ago. but you guys need to relax stressing your self out will just cause your hair to fall out and then you’ll need to go see the chief’s hair stylest.LOL

It is perfectly logical that Meredith and Ellis should not “fix” their unresolved issues(supporting the show’s authenticity.) A “fix” prior to Ellis’s demise would eliminate many hours of chewey meat in Meredith’s script for years to come.
